- - - Travel Thoughts for Everyone - - -

Special announcement and commentary: I open this edition of Michigan Travel Tips by showing some of the bad that is in Michigan and some of the bad persons in Michigan.  On Wednesday, February 8, 2012, I was made aware the Michigan State University is a bad university through an article entitled "MSU tells fresmen to be insured or join its plan" on the front page of the Detroit Free Press (Jesse, David.  "MSU tells freshmen to be insured or join its plan." Detroit Free Press, 8 February 2012, p. 1A.).  In essence, the story noted that freshmen enrolling in Michigan State University would have to be enrolled in a health-care-insurance plan, and those persons not enrolled in a health-care-insurance plan would be put in a health-care-insurance plan by the unversity and be charged a fee.  Universities are supposed to "educate" and that is it.  Where does MSU get the power--the legal power--to force people to be in a health-care-insurance plan or, in essence, spend money on something not related to be taught by the university?  I say that MSU is crap university, and it is tied to communism and enslavism!   Welcome to the crap that is Michigan.  [Note: To learn more about the subject, you are urged to see "Special Note #99" of my document entitled National Health Care and Mass Failure: The Reasons it is a Dead Issue, which can be reached by using this link: Health.]

While you travel around Michigan, you may travel while listening to the radio, and I hope you listen to--at least once and a while--a station that will pass along useful news and information.  For example, if you were traveling across the Mackinac Bridge since I published the previous edition of Michigan Travel Tips, you may have heard on a good radio station that the federal government imposes penalties on gasoline refineries if they do not add so much biofuel to their mixtures of gasoline (because of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007)--even though the biofuel is not available in the marketplace yet--and that is an example of the evilness in the minds of members of the U.S. government, particularly those in the Environmental Protection Agency, so when you see any gas price, be aware defective fines put on the gasoline/diesel refining industry get passed on to you (Wald, Matthew L.  "A Fine for Not Using Biofuel That Doesn't Exist."  The New York Times, 9 January 2012.).

Advertisement: The commercial in this edition of Michigan Travel Tips urges you to get a copy of Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, which is a book written by Mark R. Levin.  This book will help you understand better what Barack Obama is--a man who is purposely hurting the country, even though he is the president of the country--but the book is really about enslavers--politicians--who do not believe in the values of The U.S. Constitution and how The U.S. Constitution is designed to limit the power of the government, especially a dictatorship, over the individual (the citizen).  Remember: In the United States of America, it is the individuals who own the government and not the government that owns the citizens, the latter of which is what Barack Obama wants and is pushing for.

In 2003, the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfiield Village was given a new name--"The Henry Ford."  I have never liked the name of the museum, which is located in Dearborn, Michigan, because as an announcer, I think the name is hard for an announcer to sell.  In 2003, when I heard the name of the museum was going to get a new name--The Henry Ford--I sent a letter of objection, and I suggest the museum should be called "The Henry Ford Museum Complex."  And that is a note of history about The Henry Ford.
On January 29 2012, a new--basically, permanent--exhibit was opened up at The Henry Ford--the "Driving America" exhibit (the previous exhibit about the car industry and car history had been closed down about a year previously (Snavely, Brent.  "Henry Ford exhibit gets retooled." Detroit Free Press, 18 January 2012, p. 1C.)).  The "Driving America" exhibit features about 130 vehicles, and they are used to show the timeline of automotive construction and style from the late 1800s to today.  One of the vehicles is the oldest known surviving automobile in the country--an 1865 Roper.  In 1896, Henry Ford had his first car finished, and it was called the Quadricycle Runabout, and it is on display.  Another important car on display is the only all-American car, which was driven by an all-American team, to win at Le Mans, and that vehicle is called the 1967 Ford Mark IV Race  Car.  Also new is a movie theater, which shows about a ten-minute-long film about the auto industry.
Of course, besides seeing the "Driving America," you can see so much more at "The Henry Ford," which is open almost every day of the year.

Since I published the previous edition of Michigan Travel Tips, there has been a lot of big news related to the oil industry that you must be aware of because the news could lead to things that could affect your ability to travel, such as by leading to higher than necessary gas prices.  On January 18, 2012, it became public knowledge that the Barack Obama administration had killed the start of the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which was a proposed pipeline to carry crude oil roughly between Alberta, Canada, and southern Texas, the United States of America, where the crude oil would be put through refining processes.  In essence, Barack Obama, who had helped delay work to control and clean up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010, stopped companies from creating jobs once again and was able stall the improvement and expansion of the industrial base of the country.

Recently, I refreshed my knowledge about the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, especially the Train Depot Museum, which is located at Grand Haven Museum, and one reason that I ended up refreshing my knowledge about the museum is I was on quest to find a book entitled Coast Guard City, USA: A History of the Port of Grand Haven (the author of which is David H. Scibold) so that I might see if it had photographs of The Mackinaw WAGB-83 between 1944 and 2006 (the ship is now the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum), and I also made contact with the Tri-Cities Historical Museum, which has more than only the Train Depot Museum.  I noticed that, within the Train Depot Museum, there are old bicycles to see and models of ships (which are in glass cases), and while on the subject of gas and oil and traveling, I must pass along to you that the museum has an old truck, a truck from the early 1900s, which is called "The Apex Truck."  Another building for the museum complex is called the Akeley Building.  What is nice is this museum complex at Grand Haven is open all year, though, in the winter, it is only open during the days from Tuesday through Saturday.  Also at Grand Haven, which can get a lot of snow in the winter, is a train locomotive called the "1223," and it is on display at the what was the terminal yard for the Detroit, Grand Haven, and Milwaukee Railway.

And I now pass along information about the Cranbrook Art Museum, which I have been holding on to. On November 11, 2011, the renovated and expanded Cranbrook Art Museum of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, which is located in Bloomfield Hills (of Oakland County of the Lower Peninsula).  On that day, a new exhibit was opened, and it is called "No Object Is an Island: New Dialogues with the Cranbrook Collection," which is scheduled to be at exhibit at the art museum till March 5, 2012.  By the way, it took 22-million dollars and two years or so to redo the museum.  And I noted that a famous house of the Cranbrook Academy of Art--known as the Saarinen House, which is an Art Deco house--is closed for the season, and it will be open again from May 3, 2012, through October 28, 2012.

Promotional announcement: The Landmark Legal Foundation is made up of lawyers, such as Mark R. Levin (of The Mark Levin Show, a nationally syndicated radio show), who fight in court cases against those who do not uphold The U.S. Constitution and the rule of law for the country, and the Landmark Legal Foundation fights for the rights of the individual and against Marxists, communists, and the like.  In this day and age when Barack Obama, who, I am convinced, has a truly highly ill mind, is going against the rules of the country while pursuing a goal--I believe--to hurt the country and remake it or destroy it, I believe the Landmark Legal Foundation needs your help desperately; for example, retired lawyers who want to protect the country should consider donating time to helping the Landmark Legal Foundation.  I urge you to avoid making any donations to entities that promote manmade global warming or climate change and make a donation to the Landmark Legal Foundation instead (by the way, you should look into supporting the Heritage Foundation).

I opened this edition of Michigan Travel Tips with information related to gas, and I close with information about what either fascists or communists are trying do to to the gas industry, and, maybe, it is better to say that I am providing information that shows up the evilness in the minds  of communists/fascists.  Around January 19, 2012, it became public knowledge that U.S. Representatives Dennis Kucinish (a Democrat related to Ohio), John Conyers Jr. (a Democrat related to Michigan), Bob Filner (a Democrat related to California), Marcia Fudge (a Democrat related to Ohio), Jim Langevin (a Democrat related to Rhode Island), and Lynn Woolsey (a Democrat related to California) were pushing to have the Gas Price Spike Act (H.R. 3784) passed into law.  The general idea of the bill is to put together a "board" called the "Reasonable Profits Board," and the "board" would be made up of three persons who would be appointed to their jobs by the U.S. President and would impose extra tax penalties on oil companies related to profits--surplus earnings.  It is an evil idea to have a government agency involved in such work, and it is an idea that is terribly bad, and it is an idea that could lead to the federal government deciding how much profit any business should be allowed to make, and for Dennis Kucinish, John Conyers Jr., Bob Filner, Marcia Fudge, Jim Langevin, and Lynn Woolsey to even propose the idea shows they are defective people.  By  the way, ask yourself--What are "surplus profits" for any business?  Whether or not the bill becomes a law, you have a better understanding of people who exist in the U.S. Congress and what they are willing to do to hurt you--because when the government hurts the oil companies in matters that have nothing to do with true criminal activity, it hurts you.   [Kasperowicz, Pete.  "Dems propose 'Reasonable Profits Board' to regulate oil company profits." The Hill, 19 January 2012, 10:20 a.m. ET.]

Enjoy your safe traveling in Michigan!

    Stay well!

    Victor

P.S. #1: Remember: While you travel in Michigan, remind your children or grandchildren that they should never pledge to be a "servant to Obama" or a servant to any politician or sing the praises of Barack Obama, and to help you remember other matters that you should teach children about bad politicians, such as Barack Obama (who can be described as an "enslaver"), see such other documents of mine as Conservatism for Children and What Conservatism Means (which can be reached through this link: Conservatism) and Lessons for Children about Politics and Dangerous People (which can be reached through this link: Children).  (Note: I first passed along the subject of not being a "servant to Obama" and the like in the publication entitled T.H.A.T. #58, which can be reached through this link: T.H.A.T. #58.)
