I open this edition of Michigan Travel Tips by going back in time. I do not go back in time to the late 1700s and the 1800s when the houses and buildings of Fort Mackinac, which is on Mackinac Island, were made. I do not go back to the 1840s when the Moross House was constructed in Detroit (the house is a restored house that can be visited). I do not go back to 1898, when the Voigt House was built in Grand Rapids (which is in Kent County of the Lower Peninsula), and, by the way, the Voigt House is the location of the Voigt House Victorian Historical Museum today. I do not go back to the early 1900s when a log schoolhouse, which is now the Laird Township Historical Museum and is located at Alston (in Houghton County of the Upper Peninsula), was put together. I go back to April 22, 2010, which was "Earth Day," which, in the eyes of the communist, celebrates the ever-expanding government control of the United States of America.
On April 22, 2010, new rules about painting buildings built before 1978 when into effect. For one, contractors now have to attend a course and get certified in a dealing with painting buildings built before 1978, because those buildings are very likely to have lead paint on parts. Of course, people who hire contractors to do any renovation work or any painting work for now on can expect that the work will cost more than it did on April 21. Forget inflation in this calculation. The cost will go up because contractors will have to go to courses (a Remodelers, Renovators, and Painters Course), which will have to be paid for, and special work, such as lab testing, will have to be conducted in the process to remove things that are painted or touch painted items. A contractor or worker who violates the new rules can be fined up to $37,500. (Dietsch, Deborah K. "EPA rules on lead paint in home renovation will soon take effect." The Washington Post, 17 April 2010.)Advertisement: The commercial in this edition of Michigan Travel Tips urges you to get a copy of Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, which is a book written by Mark R. Levin. This book will help you understand better what Barack Obama is--a man who is purposely hurting the country, even though he is the president of the country--but the book is really about enslavers--politicians--who do not believe in the values of The U.S. Constitution and how The U.S. Constitution is designed to limit the power of the government, especially a dictatorship, over the individual (the citizen). Remember: In the United States of America, it is the individuals who own the government and not the government that owns the citizens, the latter of which is what Barack Obama wants and is pushing for.
On Thursday, April 15, 2010, a story published in the Daily Tribune (of the Macomb County/Oakland County area of Michigan) made me aware of a new museum that exists in the state (Towar Jeanne. "Museum opening makes history." Daily Tribune, 15 April 2010, p. 3A.). There now exists in Royal Oak (which is in Oakland County of the Lower Peninsula) a museum called the Royal Oak Historical Museum, which exists at 1411 West Webster (which is near Crooks Road), and the building is the former Northwood Fire Substation No. 2, which was built in 1927. The gala opening for the event took place on April 30, 2010, and it is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Incidentally, cars are important to tourism in Michigan, as they are in the remainder of the United States of America, and there is recent news about General Motors that I want you to see, so I make this note--Do see T.H.A.T. #73, which was published on the Internet on the same day that this edition of Michigan Travel Tips was published, and to reach, T.H.A.T. #73, you can use this link: T.H.A.T. #73.
Promotional announcement: The Landmark Legal Foundation is made up of lawyers, such as Mark R. Levin (of The Mark Levin Show, a nationally syndicated radio show), who fight in court cases against those who do not uphold The U.S. Constitution and the rule of law for the country, and the Landmark Legal Foundation fights for the rights of the individual and against Marxists, communists, and the like. In this day and age when Barack Obama, who I am convinced has a truly highly ill mind, is going against the rules of the country while pursuing a goal--I believe--to hurt the country and remake it or destroy it, I believe the Landmark Legal Foundation needs your help desperately; for example, retired lawyers who want to protect the country should consider donating time to helping the Landmark Legal Foundation. And I urge you to avoid making any donations to entities that promote manmade global warming or climate change and urge you make a donation to the Landmark Legal Foundation instead (by the way, you should look into supporting the Heritage Foundation).
Let me have some fun. The Detroit Free Press has been pushing the manmade-global-warming idea for at least one year (it has been longer than that, but I wish not to do research to find out the start date). On Sunday, April 18, 2010, the Detroit Free Press made a big deal with its "Green Leaders" honors, presenting, for example, a sixteen-page special about people who are "Green Leaders" in Michigan. Meanwhile, on this day, people who wanted to fly were having big trouble in Europe because of a volcano on Iceland--ash thrown up into the air was causing airlines or governments to cancel flights; the problem had begun during the end or so of the previous week, and the problem would persist on and off through at least May 9, 2010. And on Sunday, April 18, 2010, the Detroit Free Press ran a story entitled "Home windmills spin debate; Cities are imposing restrictions, bans" (Laitner, Bill. "Home windmills spin debate; Cities are imposing restrictions, bans." Detroit Free Press, 18 April 2010, p. 1A.). In the article, it was reported that "...A single, $20,000 wind turbine could power a small home...." So, pretend the electric cost of a small home is $1,000 a year (in this day and age). So, if that small home had one of those wind turbines, it would take at least twenty years to recover the cost--or break even. There would be repair costs on the wind turbine over the twenty years, so the twenty-year recovery period would have to be lengthened. There is a problem--Where will the wind turbine be put? The home could not be surrounded by trees, such as trees located in what might be called a "woods." Let us say that a city has one-thousand homes. Can you picture that city (which would have to have almost no trees) having a wind turbine for each home? The overall cost for each home to have a wind turbine would be $20,000,000--at a minimum. Oh, the story said that the wind would have to be blowing at at least fourteen miles an hour to service the home. Yes, the wind would not be blowing at some times, and, maybe, it could not be blowing enough over a day. I heard that the normal wind speed for Michigan is from five miles an hour to ten miles an hour, and there are times when the wind speed is stronger than fourteen miles an hour, and there are times when the wind speed is less than five miles an hour. By the way, the article did not mention anything about what a battery storage system would cost for each house, and I say that the battery storage system would have to be given maintenance from time to time, and the battery storage system would probably have to be replaced at some time. By the way, the article did not mention whether or not the wind turbine referred to could power a house with an electric stove, an electric dryer, a central air-conditioning unit, a heat pump, an electric water heater, a refrigerator, and the like, and the story did not cover the idea that an electric car might have to be charged up each night. I bet the wind turbine referred to in the story could not charge up an electric car (Remember I say that Barack Obama is trying to push everyone into an electric car--a tiny piece of nonsense, something like a golf cart probably--because he is working to hurt the country).
Oh, there was a bad story--not necessary because of the writing--in the Detroit Free Press for Sunday, April 18, 2010, and it was entitled "Memories for sale" ("Memories for sale." Detroit Free Press, 18 April 2010, p. 2B.). In the story, it noted that a tourist attraction in Michigan--the Walter P. Chrysler Museum--was selling off some assets (the museum is located in Auburn Hills of Oakland County in the Lower Peninsula). The Walter P. Chrysler Museum Foundation was auctioning off twenty vehicles of the collection of 250 cars to raise money for the museum, so, now, there are fewer vehicles to see at that museum in Michigan (the auction was held on the weekend of Saturday, April 24-Sunday, April 25, 2010). Welcome to the world of Barack Obama!
Well, enjoy your safe traveling in Michigan (and enjoy the many other documents at the Web site for The Hologlobe Press).
P.S. #1: Remember: While you travel in Michigan, remind your children or grandchildren that they should never pledge to be a "servant to Obama" or a servant to any politician or sing the praises of Barack Obama, and to help you remember other matters that you should teach children about bad politicians, such as Barack Obama (who can be described as an "enslaver"), see such other documents of mine as Conservatism for Children and What Conservatism Means (which can be reached through this link: Conservatism) and Lessons for Children about Politics and Dangerous People (which can be reached through this link: Children). (Note: I first passed along the subject of not being a "servant to Obama" and the like in the publication entitled T.H.A.T. #58, which can be reached through this link: T.H.A.T. #58.)
