Welcome to another edition of T.H.A.T. (a name which come from "Television History and Trivia"). The document covers television, or maybe I should see in this day and age that it covers television and video, and this document is put together by someone who has studied television intensely since the early 1970s, which can included learning to be a reviewer from reading, for example, hundreds and hundreds or thousands of television reviews that were published in Variety between 1945 and about 2009, and it seems to me, I am one of the few television reviewers left in the country, given that most people who write about television today spend time promoting shows on behalf of the producers and networks and do not dare be critical. I am not that way--I will even analyze what it being presented on television today. Besides talking about what television is today, I also talk about the what television was or has been in my editions of T.H.A.T., and this edition is no exception.
I begin by talking about a "Facebook Town Hall" video presentation that took place on April 20, 2011, an event that featured Barack Obama, and I have to talk about the event--particularly one part of it--because no other television reviewers will. There are people in life who are takers--they take as much as they can from others or the government. Such people are leeches on society. Look at one set of words that Barack Obama spoke on April 20, 2011: "...No matter how successful I am, no matter how much I've taken from this country, I wasn't born wealthy. I was raised by a single mom and my grandparents. I went to college on scholarships. There was a short time when my mom was tryin' to get a Ph.D. where for a short time, she had to take food stamps...." Much can be made of this statement. A Ph.D. is, in essence, the highest degree that a person can get from a university, and such a degree is not worked for by a person trying to attend college or university for the first time, and such a person who tries to get a Ph.D. will very likely already have a regular income, being already employed--the person is not trying to begin a first career in life. So, what we have in the quotation or Barack Obama's story is that his mother took food stamps. Some people who are trying to get a Ph.D. have to put their work to get a Ph.D. on hiatus for a time because of money problems. Yet, Barack Obama's mother--a socialist and a radical--decided to avoid taking a hiatus and decided to suck something for free out of the government--or from others or from the people that make up the type of country that she did not like (a non-enslavist state). Barack Obama's mother was a leech on society. Barack Obama also said: "...no matter how much I've taken from the country...." Here, Barack Obama admitted he has taken from the country in the past, and I say that, as the U.S. President, Barack Obama has indeed taken from the country, such as by traveling regularly on taxpayers expense--so much so that he is regularly not at the White House, unlike other U.S. Presidents--and by having regular big parties at the White House, when he is there, and, most importantly to note, Barack Obama has taken trillions of dollars from those yet to be born in this country by signing terrible pieces of legislation, such as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, that have put the country deeper and deeper in debt or, really, put every citizen in the country in deep, deep debt. Yes, Barack Obama, like his mother was, is a leech on society, and, yes, Barack Obama, like his mother was, is crap.
Okay, let us have some fun looking at the debut of two television shows. On Wednesday, April 13, 2011, the day on which Barack Obama gave a truly Marxist speech or "enslavist"-type speech about "Fiscal Policy" at George Washington University, ABC-TV offered and WXYZ-HD (Detroit) ran the first episode of a new series called Happy Endings, and after the first episode ended at about 10:00 p.m., ABC-TV offered and WXYZ-HD ran another episode of Happy Endings. Basically, the question about the series is my famous question--Why would anyone want to have these people come into their homes through the television set? The regular characters were unlikable, and they were irritating, and they were not even pleasant looking, and they were whiny and goofy and dorky and seemingly selfish in nature. Ugh! On Monday, April 4, 1949, a new locally produced television series--produced live in Detroit for Detroit-area viewers--began to run on WXYZ-TV on a weekly basis, and it was called Club HADA. The show opened--at 7:30 p.m.--with a woman named Barbara Smith singing "Comme Ci, Comme Ca." Barbara Smith (who had broken a leg and her back in an auto accident near Toronto, Canada, in July 1948) and Frankie Rapp (who was considered the emcee or "emsee" and was a comedian and had gained fame as, for one, an "emsee" at the Bowery Club, Detroit, in the last several years) were the two main regulars for this new series. This first show had a nationally known comedian named Buddy Lester as a guest, and the show also featured Phil Brestoff and his orchestra, Louis Tops (with his monkey partner), and the Earl and Josephine Leach Revue (a group of singers made up of seven gals and one guy). Behind the scenes were Frank Barbaro (the producer) and Peter Strand (the director), and the show was sponsored by the Hamtramck Auto Dealers' Association (Hamtramck is a suburb of Detroit, and the name of the association is where the word "HADA" was derived from). I did not see the first episode of Club HADA, because I had yet to be born, but I wish I had seen it, and I did see enough of Happy Endings to call Happy Endings a "dead issue."
Oh, did your favorite television newscast report or explain all the bad or any of the bad that was said by Barack Obama in his "Fiscal Policy" speech on April 13, 2011. The newscast probably did not, if the staffers are big supporters of Barack Obama, as is Eileen Trombley Glick, who runs the Web site called DetroitMemories.com and who was one main topic of the previous edition of T.H.A.T.. Yes, Barack Obama did show through his speech how corrupt his mind is, how defective his mind is, and how evil his mind is, especially when he talked about how, in essence, everything you own and make as income belongs to the government, and Barack Obama showed this through his theme of "tax expenditures." Barack Obama noted that what assets and amounts of money are not taxed from people and businesses and corporations are, to the federal government or to him (since he is the government), "tax expenditures" or liabilities to the government. That idea is nonsense and evil, given that you use your life and time on the Earth to work and earn things--he has no right to those things--but that is what Barack Obama believes in or that is what Barack Obama is trying to convince you that life should be, an idea supported by his supporters, such as Eileen Trombley Glick. Barack Obama also passed along the idea that, should the government not reduce its deficit, the government will have to find a way to reduce the "tax expenditures" (which are liabilities to the government in his mind), and that means he will have to tax you and everyone in the country more and that means he will not really cut back on spending by the government (but, to him, everything belongs to the government, so there is no real reason to cut back on spending by the government). Barack Obama's thinking goes against the rules of nature and the rules of the United States of America as it was founded. To learn about a lot more of the crap that Barack Obama spoke on April 13, 2011, you should see the entry for that date in my document entitled Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama, which can be reached by using this Quotes link, and you should see the previous edition of T.H.A.T. to learn more about the bad nature of a woman who is a big supporter of Barack Obama--Eileen Trombley Glick.
And you must be really clear how filled with garbage the mind of Barack Obama is and how filled with garbage the minds of Barack Obama supporters, such as Eileen Trombley Glick, are--During the speech on "Fiscal Policy" on April 13, 2011, Barack Obama--showing himself to be not presidential but showing himself to be a gutter-type man by pushing ludicrous thoughts about people--said in reference to a proposed Republican budget plan for the 2012 fiscal year for the federal government: "...It's a vision that up to fifty-million Americans have to lose their health insurance in order for us to reduce the deficit. Who are these fifty-million Americans? Many are somebody's grandparents, maybe one of yours, who wouldn't be able to afford nursing-home care without Medicaid. Many are poor children. Some are middle-class families who have children with autism or Down syndrome. Some of these kids with disabilities are, eh, eh, the disabilities are so severe that they require twenty-four hour care. These are the Americans we'd be telling to fend for themselves...."
By the way, supporters of Barack Obama, Barack Obama acted like a thug during the "Fiscal Policy" speech on April 13, 2011, because he had invited, in essence, U.S. Representative Paul Ryan and at least one other Republican tied to the proposed budget for 2012 to sit in the front row of the room in which Barack Obama was scheduled to speak, and then Barack Obama belittled them publicly through the speech, and it was not the first time that Barack Obama has publicly embarrassed high-ranking federal people in public--Barack Obama had belittled members of the U.S. Supreme Court during the State of the Union Speech of January 27, 2010, while those members were sitting below him in the U.S. House of Representatives chamber. It should be remembered that, on February 25, 2010, Barack Obama held a "Health Care Summit," designed supposedly to get ideas from all people about health-care improvements, and during the summit, U.S. Representative Paul Ryan showed up the nonsense of the health-care bills then being proposed for passage, noting how they do "not cut costs" or "reduce the deficit," as Barack Obama had been promoting publicly, and since then it has been shown the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 cannot reduce costs and cannot reduce the deficit, and, to me, it looks as if Paul Ryan had been invited to the speech of April 13, 2011, so that Barack Obama could get back at and publicly humiliate Paul Ryan, who had inflamed Barack Obama by telling the truth during the Health-Care Summit, as the television viewers or computer audience members for that event witnessed.
And here is a reminder--Mitch Albom (a writer and radio personality) is also a big, big supporter of Barack Obama and Barack Obama's ways of life, and more about Mitch Albom, such a nature as a defective man, can be learned by seeing my document entitled Never Forget These Media Darlings ? -- A Guide for the Individual in the United States of America, which can be reached by using the link at the end of this document.
In essence, local television newscasts are useless to the individual who wants to learn how Barack Obama is killing the country, and, mostly certainly, "conservative" radio talk-show hosts are much more valuable to the individual than television reporters and television anchors are, and let me show one good proof of that. On Tuesday, April 26, 2011, I was listening to the nationally syndicated radio show called The Mark Levin Show, hosted by Mark R. Levin, while traveling home from a hospital with someone who will soon have a total knee replacement operation. At one point in the program, Mark Levin talked about a topic--"economic represssion"--that is being discussed in the highest levels of the Barack Obama administration and in the business community, and he said: "...I'll prod everybody and get this going. It's called financial or economic repression. These are not phrases we're used to. Well, repression we're used to. I talk about it all the time. But financial or economic repression--this is a phrase or or term of art. There's a Federal Reserve press conference, which is new for Bernanke, to occur tomorrow afternoon. At that press conference, he is likely to take credit for the so-called Quantave Easing, Easing 2--Quantative Easing 2...." Mark R. Levin noted that QE2 will end in June, and that when the program ends, there could be market disruption, because what could happen is no one--such as China--will now buy our debt. Mark R. Levin also said: "...Financial or economic repression wouldn't be the term that they'd use. They may find a better term, like macroeconomics or macroprudential regulation. Whatever the bull crap language is! But their plan is to use various existing or new laws to allow the federal government to compel domestically regulated industries to ingest U.S. debt that nobody else will purchase! You heard me correctly! In specifics, our banks! You always hear these liberals talking about the lack of regulations. Lack of regulations? Ladies and gentlemen, we do not live in a free economy anymore, where there's a respect for private property rights, where there's a respect for somebody's assets! Everything's up for grabs now. So what is this financial or economic repression, where the government can force private banks, other financial institutions, mutual fund, so forth to take debt from the federal government? What does this mean? Well, let me talk about banks. If the Federal Reserve orders federally regulated banks to keep more reserves--that is to keep more cash on hand--that means they will have less money to make available to the private sector--to you. Now, why would they do that? Because the Federal Reserve will use that money instead of you to help finance the debt. What else might they do? They might quietly cap interest rates so that when you put your money in savings accounts and so forth, you'll continue to get some measly amount of money, even when there's inflation. Why? To help force the banks to have more cash in reserve so the federal government can use it. Also, they might direct the banks to allocate credit to certain firms and industries in order to set industrial policy. And they could do a lot more or try. So here we would have--the Federal Reserve Board, which really has no official place within our governmental scheme, rather than doing what it was supposed to do when it was first established, which is merely to ensure the stability of the dollar, now acting like another 'polit bureau.' We have all these 'polit bureaus' throughout our government now. So what would happen? What would happen is that the already limited availability of loans would be even further limited because the federal government would be gobbling up more and more of the cash, more and more of the reserves to lend itself money. You'd have an inefficient allocation of capital. You'd have an increased cost of money for you. You'd have lower interest rates if you're saving, you have a certificate, whatever. And you'd have a real drag--a further drag--on private-sector growth...." I note, for those of you who do not see the problems that could come, businesses, especially small businesses, would have a harder time getting loans, and businesses would not grow as well as they should so the creation of jobs would be repressed or depressed, and the federal government would keep spending and keep borrowing, and the cycle would go on and on till.... Welcome to the world of tyranny! (You are strongly urged to see my document entitled The "Enslavers" Want Your Retirement Plan or Pension Plan, which can be reached by using this link: Pension.)
Many in the media are promoting the idea that the economy is getting better, following up on the words or lies of Barack Obama, and a number of main-media entities are not reporting well what is really happening. But some stories are yet being reported that show there is big trouble in the country. For example, around April 2011/May 2011, the general unemployment rate in the country was yet somewhere around nine percent (and the U6 unemployment figure was nearly double the general unemployment figure), and about a quarter of the homeowners yet paying off mortgage loans in the country were "underwater," which means they were paying more than their homes were worth and they had lost equity, and that mortgage-loan information is from Zillow Inc. (Gittelsohn, John. "U.S. 'Underwater' Homeowners Rise to 28 Percent, Zillow Says." Bloomberg Businessweek, 9 May 2011, 4:45 p.m.).
Advertisement: In March 2009, a book called Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, which had been written by Mark R. Levin, was published. Through the book, Mark R. Levin talks about how tyranny has been creeping into the country, and he also talks about how the country has been changing from a representative republic, which has a constitution as a basis, to something, yet to be defined, and although Mark R. Levin says that it is the statist who is causing the change, especially those who are a part of the Democratic Party and in government jobs, I say that it is communists, socialists, would-be dictators, and Marxists, such as Barack Obama, who are making the changes, such as by discarding The U.S. Constitution. I urge you to see and read Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, and pass it on to others, especially teenagers and young adults (and consider listening to The Mark Levin Show, the nationally syndicated radio show, on a regular basis).
Here, I talk about The Paul Reiser Show, though it was killed after two airings, and what I present here was written on the day that the first episode was shown on NBC-TV:
On Thursday, April 14, 2011, NBC-TV got into the act of offering a new series for prime-time viewers, and it was The Paul Reiser Show. I missed the opening and much of the first episode, busy with more important matters. I caught the last five minutes of the episode, and when the ending credits were running, I was given, as other viewers were, a crappy scene in which Paul Reiser and Larry David (that dude from Curb Your Enthusiasm) were talking about Paul Reiser's possibly being gay. I say in jest, "Oh, so funny it all was." Really, I say--It was more crap television from NBC-TV, the most liberal of the broadcast networks. People may watch the series, but it is not a good television series--that one scene made me tag the show as unlikable. My seeing the episode happened only hours after I had learned that the State Senate of California had passed a bill that--if it passes the State House and is signed by the governor of California into law--would require, for one, the teaching of "gay history" in public schools in California. The "gay history" class thing and the gay scene in The Paul Reiser Show was bad and is bad. Children should be busy learning about English, math, real science, real useful history, The United States Constitution, biology, mathematics, et cetera and not wasting learning time on gay history, which should be left for personal time, if any time, and, incidentally, teaching gay history is more nonsense that taxpayers will see their money be used for. I really wonder--Did gays really find that scene in The Paul Reiser Show funny? On Thursday April 21, 2011, WDIV-HD, the NBC-TV affiliate in Detroit, preempted the edition of The Paul Reiser Show for the day to air a locally made special called Extreme Weather What's Going On, which was hosted by Chuck Gaidica, a long-time staffer in the weather department of the station (the episode of The Paul Reiser Show would get aired about five hours later on the station). The special was neither a pro-manmade-global-warming special or a anti-manmade-global-warming special, but early in the show, the special did show a lot a bad weather images, which might have persuaded to the naive in the viewing audience that recent weather events can be tied to manmade global warming (the special did not relate how past years have had just as many bad weather events). During the special, Dr. Roy Spencer (formerly of NASA and now of the University of Alabama) and Dr. Harold Wanless (of the University of Miami) took on, in essence, each other on the idea of manmade global warming. At the end of the special, Dr Harold Wanless was heard saying about manmade global warming, "And it is happening now, and it is gonna change Earth, probably beyond your wildest imaginations, and, and, it's gonna test the limits of, of what we call civilization." Also at the end of the special, Dr. Roy Spencer was heard saying, "Change happens anyway. Whether humans are here or not, the climate is gonna change." And at the end of the special, the special presented no credits.
Announcement for the novice again: To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, go to Fox News Channel, WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama, as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (to learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the Fox News Channel and those mentioned with it in presenting political stories and events, and you should discover CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV avoid covering things that make Barack Obama look bad or show his true nature, which could harm you). If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you.
So did your favorite television newscast report these stories about defective politicians--or enslavists? On Thursday, April 7, 2011, the Mayor of Boston, Massachusetts--Thomas Menino--issued an executive order that bans the sale, promotion/advertising, or use of sugary drinks, such as regular Coke, on public property related to or owned by Boston (Carey, Amanda. "Boston mayor takes on sugary drinks." The Daily Caller, 8 April 2011, 12:58 a.m., 12:35 p.m., (update).). On Monday, April 1, 2011, the principal related to Little Village Academy (a school in the Chicago area of Illinois), in essence, banned the ability of children to bring lunches packed by their parents to school ("Chicago Public Schools Bans Home-Packed Lunches." Huff Post Chicago, 11 April 2011, 03:24 p.m. ET.). Both of the persons who are the focus of this paragraph are Democrats. [Welcome to the world of the new communist United States of America under the umbrella of Barack Hussein Obama. Remember: Barack Obama is at least a communist, and once Barack Obama came to power as the U.S. President, communists and socialists all over the country, especially those who are politicians, knew they now had someone sort of standing behind them to back them in what they would do--they could like roaches come out of the ditches and whatever and push their crap, and that is a rule of life. You are urged to see my document entitled Michigan Travel Tips #60, which can be reached by using this Travel #60 link, to see a related matter. In addition, women in America are becoming less and less and less mothers, an idea that really was taking off with the Women's Liberation Movement (or gay women's movement and hate-men movement) in the 1960s, and now many women are simply breeding machines and workers instead of mothers, and the governments--the communists and such in governments--are trying to be the mothers of the American children, which then makes the children dependent on the government for food and makes the children look up to the ideology of the government people--communists.]
People who get their news mostly from the "liberal" media are highly uninformed about what bad things the Barack Obama administration is doing, so I cover some of those bad things as part of "Did your favorite television newscast cover this?" It is bad when politicians and bureaucrats in office know to whom a person or entity contributes when the person or entity is trying to get a government contract, and that is because if a politician or bureaucrat in government is working on making a decision about whether or not a certain person or entity should get a contract has information that the person or entity made a political donation to a political party that is not that to which the politician or bureaucrat belongs that politician or bureaucrat could or probably will find a way to block that person or entity from getting the contract and making money through the contract. In the week of Monday, April 17, 2011, information leaked out to the press and was reported by some press entities or persons, such as CNS News, that Barack Obama had a draft of an executive order that would require for-profit entities to disclose to what political parties or candidates a person or business entity contributed campaign money over the last two years during the process to get awarded a federal contract. Besides leading to a company's being blocked from getting a federal contract for donating to a particular candidate or politicians, the policy is coercion, since it would lead to the company's having to donate to particular political parties if the company ever hoped to be seriously considered for a federal contract. That is corruption and evil, and that is not the way to operate a good country, and it shows more of the crap that is in the mind of Barack Obama, who is an "enslavist." In addition, during the week on Monday, April 17, 2011, it became publicly known that the National Labor Relations Board of the federal government--an entity under control of the Barack Obama administraton--was working, such as through court action, to stop Boeing (the airplane maker) from starting up a factory shift in North Carolina and was working to force Boeing to start up the shift at a plant in Washington instead, or what was being worked on by the National Labor Relations Board was a policy that would have the federal government determine where and where not a company could set up operations or shifts or where a company could or could not move to, a policy that had never been done by the federal government, but, of course, now the federal government is mostly controlled by communists and socialists or what I call "enslavists," and, most certainly, the policy would be un-American and tyrannical and like that used in a communist country. Also during the week of April 17, 2011, it became public knowledge--at least to some persons--that the Barack Obama administration had yet to fill 12 of the 69 "inspector general" positions related to agencies or departments of the Executive Branch of the federal government (and, in fact, there were three more open positions than there had been in 2009, early in the first term of the Barack Obama administration). An "inspector general" is supposed to be a person who oversees an agency or department, looking for things or procedures that are, for example, illegal or unethical. At the time that the information about the "inspector general" vacancies was reported publicly, some of the entities of the federal government without an "inspector general" were the U.S. Department of Justice and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The Laura Ingraham Show is a nationally distributed radio show (it is on the Talk Radio Network on weekdays for three hours, such as on from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the East), and it is hosted by Laura Ingraham (a "conservative"), and although it is a radio show, I have to put in information from an interview that Laura Ingraham did with Harry Alford, the head of the National Black Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, since the information fits well here. The interview took place on April 29, 2011, and I heard the interview for the first time on May 7, 2011, by listening to it as an audio file presented on the Web site for Real Clear Politics. I have to make clear that Harry Alford said in the interview that he voted for Barack Obama to be the U.S. President because, basically, Barack Obama was "black," but Harry Alford noted in the interview that it was the "worst mistake I ever made in my life.." and "That is a lesson that I will take to my grave." Now, look at some comments made by Harry Alford to Laura Ingraham in the interview:
"Well, Obama wanted the National Black Chamber to dance to his music and have blind allegiance to his crazy programs and agenda, which are totally anti-business. We are a pro-business organization! So we have to stand on the side of business and for the benefit of our members, which are entrepreneurs--black entrepreneurs. So he decided that he was going to show the Black Chamber something--he was gonna form his own Chamber of Commerce. And it was formed in the White House, believed it or not. And he's got these--I don't know what they are?--they're not business people saying they're a Chamber of Commerce, so we're suing that so-called Chamber in federal court now for trademark infringement. But it was...the Gainful Employment Rule, which we are fighting. He wants to take away financial aid for students and for-profit schools or career colleges. He wants to take it away, because--he says--their, their income will be too low to pay off the college tuition, which is a lie. They'll pay it off. And this is their chance to leave poverty and to get into the workforce, and we need an educated workforce. Our businesses are growing. We're the fastest growing segment of small businesses. When Kay and I started the National Black Chamber of Commerce in 1993, there were 300,000 black-owned businesses. Today, there's 1.9-million black-owned businesses. We're growing at sixty percent every five years. So we need an educated workforce to meet the demand of employees in the growth of those businesses. So, he said--I'm going to destroy you. And in the White House--our White House, the people's White House--they have conspired to destroy the National Black Chamber of Commerce. It won't work! We have loyal members. We have a mission. And we bring in billions of dollars into the African-American community, but, for that, I'm gonna have to go to war with him."
"...He [Barack Obama] is anti-business, and it's, it's--and my wife tells me to not to say this--but it's, it is starting to look Marxist to me!"
"...It was hope. It was hope. You know, it was hope. But, you know, hope isn't hiring. Hope isn't lowering the price of gasoline. You know, this, this kind of hope is, is. He wants, and he said it in the San Francisco Chronicle--you can look this up--he wanted the price of gasoline to go to six to seven dollars a gallon so that we can reduce our carbon footprint! He said this! And he's doin' it! It's five dollars a gallon, right now, in D.C. and still rising about a, a nickel every three or four days. It's crazy! And he's smiling! This guy's dangerous!"
"...His theories is dangerous! I love this country too much to, to be quiet about this guy. He is wrecking us at a time that we need to be strong. He is dangerous! And I'm gonna do all I can to get the black community--one- to two- to three-million votes--to go to whoever runs against him."
"...Well, he didn't get great people! You know, Arne Duncan--the [U.S.] Secretary of Education--he wrecked the Chicago school system! They're still pickin' up the pieces in Chicago! And he [Barack Obama] makes him Secretary of Education! He's in way over his head, and it's showing with this Gainful Employment Rule.
"...We are in big trouble!..."
"...People are hurting! I mean the, the Mortgage Modification Program is, has a success rate of seven percent. People wi, African-Americans lost 35 percent of their net worth in this subprime scandal! And he doesn't care!...."
Yes, I bet your favorite local television newscaster never covered anything like what I have just presented.

And now it is time to expose more "crap" television--Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, a new season of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution was started up on ABC-TV, and I purposely avoided most of the episode that was shown on April 12, 2011, knowing the format and the purpose of the series, but I caught the opening of it so that I could get sample opening credits and I saw the last five minutes or so of it so that I could get a sample of the closing credits. In the last five minutes or so of the episode, Jamie Oliver did something that was truly manipulative, truly wrong, truly misleading--he showed how much sugar the children in the Los Angeles area (of California) were getting in milk each week, and he did it by pouring sugar in to a big yellow school bus containing things representing children, and the pouring of sugar in to the bus did not end till sugar had been running out of the cracks and windows of the bus for some time, and his small audience gathered around the bus was so impressed and so enthralled The bus demonstration was all out of context, and the bus demonstration was all flash. This man from another country--a country that is not the United States of America and is socialistic, England, where people worship kings and queens and a thin ill-looking bride of a prince--pushed crap. They call this "entertainment"? I say in jest, "Yes, blame the milk and blame the sugary drinks, but do not dare blame real causes!" When I was growing up, I had to run and walk to school or ride a bicycle, and I ate candy regularly, and I am fifty-seven years of age, I can shovel snow off of what amounts to at least 500 feet of drive regularly (though I could use a snow thrower) and chop up a big tree with an ax (though I have a chain saw). The problem with children and young adults' weight is not the sugar, it is young adults and children do not do anything, like walk to school and mow the lawn and do other work for the self, and a big cause has been government-forced school busing, which has been getting children on the wrong foot since they were really little, and, in some cases, leading to children being forced to spend hours on buses each day, and another part of the problem is parents' driving children to and from school all their lives, even though the children live close to school! (Yes, I understand that children in the rural areas might have to be driven to and from school since school is far away.) Another cause is the feminist revolution, which led to women abandoning their duties as mothers, taking care of their children and what children eat and allowing the government to determine what their children can eat at school, and now Michelle and Barack Obama are pushing for having the government spend even more money on feeding even more children in schools around the country from breakfast to dinner, and Jamie Oliver never brought out the topic, and since the feminist revolution has been running in earnest since the 1960s, you have what could be called at least two generations of mothers' who have given up their duties of carrying properly for their children or you have what can be called at least two generations of children who have become parents and are using bad ways of food use and choice, learned as children, in dealing with their children. Jamie Oliver did show the food served at schools in Los Angeles--controlled by government--should be better, but Jamie Oliver did not attack the real causes of the weight problem--social engineering and the feminist revolution, which comes down to at least the ways socialism, if not communism. Oh, Jamie Oliver, why not talk about the break down in the black family, caused by socialists and communists and radical blacks, where black males in many cases have become nothing more than breeding animals, who gives no guidance to their children and what they should eat. Yes, when I really examine what I saw a during the opening and the closing of the first episode of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, I saw "rubbish," a word used in the show by Jamie Oliver, and, unfortunately for everyone in the United States of America, what Jamie Oliver is doing is indirectly leading to parents' pushing to have even more government involved in determining what people may and may not eat or what parents may or may not feed their children--and that is more government tyranny.
Did you catch these things in the preachy first episode of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution? Jamie Oliver pushed the idea that material from beaver is "...not good for human consumption." Why is it not good? Beaver, like other animals, have been used as food by man--which is an animal that is designed to eat plants and animals--for centuries. During the ending of the episode, the producers used a shot in which Jamie Oliver--alone--was sweeping some of the sugar that had been dumped (it was one of those phony emotion-enducing shots).
So it seems, if I happen to go to Boston and I happen to be carrying a can of Pepsi Throwback and I step on city-owned land, I can be ticketed or fined in some way, and that is because some jackass man--the mayor of the city--has made a dictate about what can and cannot be eaten on city-owned land, and a school principal in the Chicago area is forcing parents to stop giving their children to take to school better food than that offered in school or not as good, which should be up to the parents and not the principal.
Public Service Announcement: If you wish to avoid giving a donation to nonprofit groups that support "manmade global warming" legislation or "manmade climate-change" legislation, such as the very bad American Clean Energy and Security Act (which is also known as the Waxman-Markey Bill), give to something better--particularly the Heritage Foundation and the Landmark Legal Foundation, which are organizations that support The U.S. Constitution and are working to defeat Barack Obama's plans to take over the country. Hey, American actors, how are the jobs coming on prime-time television? Have you notice how many foreigners are headlining American television shows on prime time on the broadcast networks or have been over the last year or so? Jamie Oliver (of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution) is from England. Cat Deeley, who hosts So You Think You Can Dance, is from England. On Dancing with the Stars has Len Goodman, who is from England, and from Bruno Tonioli, who is from Italy. Gordon Ramsey, a man from England, hosts Hell's Kitchen. Hugh Laurie is from England and is on House, M.D.. Tim Roth of Lie to Me is from England. Simon Baker of The Mentalist is Australian. Sofia Vergara of Modern Family is from Columbia. Rizwan Manjt, who appears on Outsourced, is from Canada. Adhir Kalyan of Rules of Engagement is from South Africa. Laura Logan, who is a regular reporter on 60 Minutes, is from South Africa. Jo Frost of Super Nanny is from England. Gugu Mbatha-Raw of Undercovers is from England, and Boris Kodjoe of the same show is from Austria. Kunal Nayyar, who appears in The Big Bang Theory, is from England/India. Nathan Fillon who plays Castle on Castle is from Canada, and Stana Katdic, who also appears on the show, is from Canada. David McCallum, who came from England, in essence, in the 1960s is on NCIS. Erica Durance of Smallville is from Canada. Nina Dobrey of The Vampire Diaries is from Bulgaria. Laura Vandervoort is from Canada and plays on V. Cote de Pablo of NCIS is from Chile. Owain Yeoman of The Mentalist is from Wales. Caroline Dhavernas of Off the Wall is from Canada. Yvonne Strahovski of Chuck is from Australia. Shun Majumder is one Canadian on Detroit 1-8-7. Anna Torv is from Australia and plays on Fringe. Archie Panjabi of The Good Wife is from England. Sara Ramirez of Grey's Anatomy is from Mexico, and Sandra Oh of that same show is from Canada. Indira Varma of Human Target is from England. Although born in the United States of America, it can be said that Grace Park of Hawaii Five-0 is from Canada (she is that no-boobs gal, a picture of whom can be seen in the issue of TV Guide for May 9-15, 2011, p. 21). And there are more, but I drop the subject, having made the point.
A reminder (updated): Remember to tell your children and grandchildren that they should never pledge to be a "servant to Obama" or a servant to any president, which was a topic in T.H.A.T. #58, and remember to tell them to not blindly "believe" in leaders, and that is a lesson in this edition of T.H.A.T., as it was in the past and will be in the future. By the way, remember, in the "Presidential Video," which is one topic of T.H.A.T. #58, one male says, "I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama."; one female says, "I pledge to be a servant to our president." And make sure your children and grandchildren are not singing songs at school that praise Barack Obama, which has been done by children at some schools around the country since January 2009, since children should never sing songs that praise any politician, especially a megalomaniac and narcissist like Barack Obama.
Speaking of family, Oprah Winfrey's fairly new network called OWN aired a special called Extraordinary Moms on May 7, 2011, and one of the moms was Rosie O'Donnell.
Barack Obama is not usually challenged about his thoughts, especially by the media, and he discourages anyone challenging this thoughts and beliefs. On Monday, April 18, 2011, a reporter--Brad Watson--for WFAA-TV, Dallas, Texas, did, in essence, challenge Barack Obama during an interview by asking quick follow-up type questions. After the interview, a part of which focused on why Houston, Texas, did not end up with a retired space shuttle for display, Barack Obama was caught saying: "Let me finish my answers the next time we do an interview!" I think you should hear--in your head--this translation--"Do not challenge me again, if I ever happen to give an interview to someone tied to your television station again, which probably will never happen!" (By the way, the report with video of the interview was not posted on the Internet by WEAA-TV till Tuesday, April 19, 2011.)
Well, the "slave master" of the United States of America--Barack Obama--and his Michelle Obama appeared on Oprah Winfrey's syndicated show on May 2, 2011, and the reason that I say that Barack Obama is the "slave master" of the country is that he believes everything in the country--such as all your assets and money--belongs to the government, and he proved that during his "Fiscal Policy" speech of April 13, 2011, when he noted that "tax expenditures," one of which is money that you do not have taxed from you for your having used your life to work at a job, are liability to the government, and if the government overspends--or, really, if he overspends doing whatever he wants to do with money--he will have to reduce those "tax expenditures" or take more from you, and since Oprah Winfrey's highly supports Barack Obama and Barack Obama's policies, it shows how much of an evil mind Oprah Winfrey has--she, like Barack Obama, is a supporter and believer of "enslavism."
And here is something you may have missed on television. Neil Cavuto interviewed Steve Wynn, a well-known casino operator in Las Vegas on April 19, 2011, on Cavuto the Fox Business Channel. Of course, maybe, you did see the interviewer. Whether you did or did not see the interview, here is one statement that Steve Wynn made in relation to what he believed about the Barack Obama administration in regards to business and businesses: "...I think, I think there's a tremendous prejudice in this administration...." Also, Steve Wynn noted: "...Everybody talks about what the government is, is giving them, but hardly anybody is talking about what the government is taking away. And I am telling you--and it's clear in every measurement that you can look at--that the standard of living, the quality of life of the working class of America is being deteriorated in real time because of the falling value of the dollar." And Steve Wynn made clear: "...I think the most important thing that's gotta be done is the truth has to, has to come out. The populous rhetoric, ah, is, is very carefully designed to hide the truth, and I find it annoying and disappointing that it's happened that way...." (Another part of the interview can be found by looking at "Special Note #82" in the document entitled National Health Care and Mass Failure: The Reasons it is a Dead Issue, which can be reached by using this link: Health.)
I have to report on a television event of Saturday, April 23, 2011, which took place when I ran the scan function on a digital-analog converter for a television set in the Detroit area, and because of what must have been unusual weather conditions, I finally picked up Channel 47 (digital), which has been running digital since 2010. Channel 47 is a low-power station, and Channel 47 is really five "subchannel"-like channels, since there is no high-definition" channel, which a full-power station can have. The five channels are 47.1 (which is the TBN network, which is a religion network), 47.2 (which is JCTV), 47.3 (which is Smiles of a Child or "SoaC"), 47.4 (which is The Church Channel), and 47.5 (which is Enlace, a Spanish-language network). If you do not have these scanned in, run the scanning feature of the converter box again and see what happens (you may not get them, though).
Oh, here is an unhappy ending of sorts. On Wednesday, April 20, 2011, ABC-TV ran an episode of Happy Endings, which I have already talked about in this edition of T.H.A.T. (the episode was not listed in TV Guide). One part of the episode had a Jewish gal dating a guy whose last name was "Hitler." I say--"Can you imagine all the wonder comedy that can come out of that?" One of the main characters is gay, and, of course, the episode tried to elicit fun out of the love life of the gay character. There is a mixed couple--a white gal and a black guy. The series is one big cliché that hits all the wrong buttons.
[Note: This section was updated on March 10, 2014.] Well, I thought I was done, but I have to make a "Babe Watch" announcement. Since I published the previous edition of T.H.A.T., I have gone through several hundred more articles in newspapers in my search for information about Detroit television in the past. During the searching, I came across finally the correct name of a television show produced in Detroit that I had known about for several years (at least). The name of the show is At Arthur Murray's; I only had "Arthur Murray" for a name before I came across the correct name because old-time television-program-listings often did not give correct titles of shows. At Arthur Murray's was, in essence, an interview and dance-instruction show, and the show had a name tied to the national chain of dance studios related to dancer Arthur Murray (such studios still exist). For now, I only know the show existed around February 1953; I have yet to track down the start day and the end date. In February 1953, the weekly show was shown on WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and the emcee was Doris Eaton Travis, and, by the way, it was in that month that the studio was moved to 16641 East Warren. I knew nothing of Doris Eaton Travis, so, for fun, I went on the Internet to see if I could find an obituary for Doris Eaton Travis, though I knew it was possible she was yet alive. I found stuff. Doris Eaton Travis died about a year ago--May 11, 2010. I learned she was born on March 14, 1904. So she lived about 106 years. Also I learned she was the last of the "Ziegfeld Girls" (those dancers of the early 1900s in stage productions tied to Flo Ziegfeld) right before she died. I found a photograph of Doris Eaton Travis when she was a "Ziegfeld Girl" in the 1920s, and, boy, she had pretty legs. Incidentally, so many gals of today complain about their legs, and I say they would have pretty legs if they did some work with them, especially dance. I saw a 1939 photograph of Doris Eaton Travis, in which she was with Arthur Murray, and, boy, she was truly a handsome woman then. In 1953, she must have looked great on television, much better than so many of the gals pushed on viewers in television shows today. Hey, guys, if you want to see a "babe" of television past, find the photograph of Doris Eaton Travis from the 1920s and the photograph of Doris Eaton Travis from 1939. Wow!
So here is official my addition to the section (done on March 10, 2014). On March 8, 2014, I found an advertisement for WWJ-TV in a publication called Television Magazine for November 1952, and the advertisement was, basically, an advertisement that showed off when some on the programs produced at the station were airing. It noted that a program called Club Arthur Murray was airing on Fridays at 8:00 p.m. and that the host of the program was Doris Eaton Travis. If that information is correct, then I have two titles for the show. I have to admit that sometimes people change the names of shows. At the moment, I must state that it seems that show had two names at least. However, there could be an error with the advertisement, since the advertisement had the spelling wrong for one of the hosts of a program called Musically Speaking (which was running on the station at 7:15 p.m. on Mondays for 15 minutes), and the one host was called "Marv Welsh" instead of what is correct "Marv Welch" (who is most known in Detroit television history today for being the main performer on Wixie's Wonderland in the mid-1950s for WXYZ-TV).Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.
Stay well!

P.S. #1: The telephone number of the U.S. Congressional Switchboard is: 1-202-224-3121. (Use it to fight against the creation of a national-health-care system, especially a system pushed through law by a defective thinker, a man who has created nothing, and a man whose history is mostly filled with tearing things down, a man who continually puts down the U.S.A.--Barack Obama. By the way, one of the more recent events in which he put down the entire business community of the country took place on Wednesday May 13, 2009, and you should see the second entry for Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in the document entitled Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama).
