Let me try something different for an open. In the mid-1980s, I almost had one of my short stories adapted into a segment of The Twilight Zone, the second television series with the name (the original Twilight Zone or The Twilight Zone) had been shown on CBS-TV from roughly October 1959 to September 1964. In early 1985, I heard a new television series was going to be put together, so I sent a letter to the producers to persuade them to at least look at one of my stories, and CBS-TV sent a special legal form to me for me to sign and a request to see the story, and I sent the story and the signed form. In the end, James Crocker (a staffer of the series) sent a nice no-thank-you letter, and the new series went on the air in September 1985. Oh, the short story was entitled "The Internship," and it was a type of story like those that Rod Serling used to put together for the original Twilight Zone or The Twilight Zone (the original series had two titles), which were character studies and not monster pieces as many people seem to think the original series was, which in contrast to the focus of Rod Serling's Night Gallery (which Rod Serling had little to do with and which was shown on NBC-TV in the early 1970s).
Lately, I have been thinking about another story that might fit in a true Twilight Zone episode if a new series were to be put together (and it would be in the fourth edition of the series), and I have collected some basic ideas for a story. Like stories devised by Rod Serling, the story would be a character study of a man--in this case, a defective man. "For your consideration," I would have the man living in an apartment building on the top floor--the penthouse--and I would have him in fear. Recently, a thief has been stealing the one most precious possession of several of the other tenants in the building--that stealing done one at a time over a week or so--and all of the persons have done trangressions against others, and the thief has been announcing, through a card pushed under the door of each person's place, that the thief is coming closer and closer to the man, and the thief is making it very, very clear that the thief is coming to take that one precious possession away from the man. The man in the penthouse apartment is frantic. He dare not go out. He schemes to keep the thief out, such as by tearing furniture apart and nailing pieces across the door and windows. Each time the phone rings, he is panicked. He gathers together what he hopes to be useful weapons. All the while, he is engaged in trying to figure out what would be that one precious possession. He has money. He has jewels. He has art work. Yet, with all he does, on one evening, the man finds himself face to face with the thief, a mild-mannered little woman who he first meets when he finds her sitting in his large lounge chair while doing crewel. After an exchange in dialogue, the woman starts for him and he is unable to move. She reaches out with her right hand and puts the palm to his face. She notes to him, "Little man, you have not really done anything. You, through your own mind and work, have created nothing. Yes, you have lied to people, you have hurt people, you have enslaved people. Through it all, all you have truly had is your persona, a shiny image that covers up a shallow and hollow body of a man. That is your one precious possession. That was your one precious possession. And now they will always see you for what you are. A man of nothing, a man with nothing to give, a man with nothing anyone else would want." The man looks into her eyes and sees images of himself [we have an extreme close up of the woman's face], which begins to get smaller and smaller and smaller till they fade away. The woman starts to leave and then stops, and she shows what she has been working on, and she says, "You like what I'm working on?" She shows it off. "It's crewel, it's crewel, you know." We get a camera shot of his drawn, blank face, and, after a few moments, the screen fades to black. And that is my Twilight Zone presentation for this time.
Public Service Announcement: So you wonder what you can do in relation to Barack Obama. Well, avoid watching any news programs on NBC-TV, MSNBC, CNN, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV, especially when they promote to you that Barack Obama or any member of his family is good or good for the country. For the most part, avoid any news conferences done by Barack Obama (catch details of the conferences on FOX News, the Drudge Report, CNSnews.com, et cetera). Boycott any televison programs that support Barack Obama or any member of his family, and boycott any television programs that praise Barack Obama or any member of his family, such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, Late Night with David Letterman, and The Daily Show (and there are many more that I could list). Avoid any books or magazines that promote Barack Obama or any member of his family as being good, and, in fact, when possible, when a pro-Obama book or magazine is for sale somewhere and has Barack Obama or any member of his family on the cover, turn it over so that the cover does not show. (By the way, some books, such as The Obama Nation, and magazines show the bad of the Obama family and should be seen.) Buy nothing that has any ties to Barack Obama and his family, or, for example, buy no coins, stamps, plates, statues, T-shirts, trinkets, et cetera that have any ties to Barack Obama (such as his image) or any member of this family (return for a refund anything that you do have that has ties to Barack Obama or his family and can be returned for a refund). On public property, where someone has illegally placed a bumper sticker promoting Barack Obama, cover it up or remove it (if you cover it up, use a non-political bumper sticker that has no ties to you). "A weak link in the chain of command waiting to be broken."--lately, this piece of dialogue that was used in the episode of The Prisoner (a television series of the late 1960s) entitled "Hammer into Anvil" has been rolling around in my head. It is in my head, because I can see how it can be applied--quite easily--to the present day and a weak mind. I wonder....
Announcement: I did not give you the name of my episode for The Twilight Zone yet. I like this title--"The Cruel Thief." Do you understand?
Oh, through this edition of T.H.A.T., I again urge you to buy the box DVD set of The Prisoner so that you can enjoy it, study it, and learn from it, and I again urge you to run the episodes for children so that they can see what the series, which featured Patrick McGoohan, is about.
A lesson: I have in this edition of T.H.A.T. a lesson, which would never be given by any of your favorite newscasters, especially the local newscasters. On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, Barack Obama gave a speech to students at Arizona State University, and, on Sunday, May 17, 2009, Barack Obama gave a speech to students at the University of Notre Dame, and you may not have heard any of the audio from those speeches and you may not have heard any analysis of his speeches. Both speeeches show how he degrades people of the United States of America and how he wishes a person to not really excel for the self through ideas created by the self. I say that, if people were to excel for themselves without Barack Obama's supposed help, they might become better than he is, and he really is nothing, given he has few--if any--real accomplishments related to making things better, so, remember, Barack Obama sees himself as a supreme leader and messiah, and in order to perpetuate that myth, he has to keep others from getting better than he is. I urge you to see the document entitled Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama to see for youself what Barack Obama is, what Barack Obama thinks and does not think, and what Barack Obama thinks about you.
By the way, it has been the rule in the United States of America that you should "follow your dream." You do what you do to be what you think you should be and not what a president tells you to be, and I have yet to hear Barack Obama say "follow your dream"--he says do not become this, such as a banker, instead become that, such as a worker for a nonprofit place. Barack Obama is trying to get you to not listen to yourself and to get you to not "follow your dream!"
Not much has showed up as news about television since the last edition of T.H.A.T. was published. A bunch of bad shows disappeared. For example, NBC-TV promoted Kings as a big deal in March 2009 (it debuted on Sunday, March 15), and it did not pull in viewers, so NBC-TV shifted it to Saturday, and it looks as if the show is about done. What happened to The Osbourns: Reloaded, which showed up for one episode on Fox TV recently? In the next edition of T.H.A.T., there should be news about how all-digital television related to full-power television stations is going for viewers, since the federal government set June 12, 2009, as the final day of analog broadcasting.
Let me remind you of some text that I presented in the previous edition of T.H.A.T. "My research has convinced me that Barack Obama's wish to switch to a federal-government-run health-care system would be a bad idea, since such systems are failing in such countries as Canada and England (to see the problems with the health-care system in the U.K., you should see the many real newspaper articles and such that are available through liberty-page.com (I talked about the topic more fully in Michigan Travel Tips #60, which can be reached at this link: Travel #60)). To date, I have yet to see a good and long and detailed television program about the health-care system in the U.K. presented on MSNBC, CNN. NBC-TV, CBS-TV, or ABC-TV, which would really show how the government-run health-care system in the U.K. is falling apart and how individuals, especially the elderly, are being treated terribly."
Did you catch this exchange of talk between Charlie Rose and Andy Stern, who is the president of the Service Employees International Union on Charlie Rose (a weeknight PBS television program) on Thursday, May 14, 2009:
Charlie Rose: "...I think this president wants to do this, A, because on the merits he believes it's essential and necessary but he also wants to do this as a tribute to Senator Kennedy and get it done!"
Andy Stern: "Senator Kennedy's waited his whole life, fought his whole life to see this moment. And not just the president--I think Democrats and Republicans in the Senate, many people who know him like me, just think, 'What a better tribute could there be to the greatest Senator that we've had in decades, which is a universal health-care plan.'...."Special comment: Ah, yes, there is good news for you if a national-health-care system is created in the U.S.A.--a system that will destroy the current health-care industry, such as the private health insurance business (some people--especially people in the Democratic Party--want to purposely kill the current health-care industry in the country, and evidence of that can be found in my document entitled National Health Care and Mass Failure: The Reasons it is a Dead Issue for the quotation from U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, who is associated with Illinois). The health-care bill that will be proposed will be attached to U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy (a.k.a. "Mr. Chappaquiddick"), whose father was Joseph Kennedy and whose brothers were Robert Kennedy and U.S. President John F. Kennedy, and that is what the Democrats want to do as a tribute to Ted Kennedy, who, in essence, is ill at this time (he has had brain trouble). In ten years, after the health-care system in the U.S. is a mess and people hate the system and what has been done, people will hate the Kennedy name and the Kennedy family, and to me, that will be fun, and, in the end, if I am yet alive, I can laugh knowing Ted Kennedy (a.k.a. "Mr. Chappaquiddick") killed the Kennedy dynasty, but it will not be forgotten that the health-care mess will also be tied to Barack Obama, the garbage of a man, as he will be seen by the people of this country and the people of the world for all that he destroyed by having a defective mind. Yes, you will be able to laugh at and ridicule the Kennedy family outwardly. (Ted Kennedy. Wikipedia.com, 15 May 2009, p. NA.)
Let me talk about Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is a "hot bed" of nonsense thinkers and of communists, Marxists, socialists, and nitwits. From the place has come such garbage as Saul Alinsky (the communist who wrote the book Rules For Radicals, which is the informal title), William Ayers (a 1960s and 1970s terrorist), Hillary Clinton, William Axelrod (an adviser to Barack Obama), Louis Farrahkan, and, not to be forgotten, Barack Obama. And you will find other persons associated with Chicago or Illinois who are listed in documents of mine, such as U.S. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, who give evidence of what Chicago is.
Reminder: Remember to tell your children and grandchildren that they should never pledge to be a "servant to Obama" or a servant to any president, which was a topic in T.H.A.T. #58, and remember to tell them to not blindly "believe" in leaders, and that is a lesson in this edition of T.H.A.T., as it was in the past and will be in the future.
Well, I recently noted to you that people who get, for example, The Macomb Daily can subscribe to a new weekly television-program-listings publication, which is called TV plus, and I noted how it is better than TV Book is, which is issued each week by the Detroit Free Press, and now I have information about changes with TV Guide. Most of the talk that I have presented about TV Guide over the last few years has been about how TV Guide was getting worse by offering less, but, recently, I discovered evidence that TV Guide is offering more--in relation to showing what is on at what time. When I opened up the edition of TV Guide for May 18-31, 2009, which is a double issue or a two-week issue, I noticed TV Guide offered in two pages of grids inforamtion that showed the daytime programming of some of the well-known cable networks in relation to weekdays, so that is one improvement. In addition, for a short while, the publishers of the magazine have been cheating readers on the amount of grid material offered in relation to some days, such as Saturday, in single-week issues and for all seven days of the second week presented in two-week editions, but in the edition for May 18-31, 2009, TV Guide had all fourteen days covered fully (or for what is fully done for TV Guide), so that is another improvement. It will be interesting to see how long the changes remain--the publishers could always cut back again.
And now it is time for the news, which you may not have been given by your favorite national television newscast. On Friday, May 15, 2009, one of the stories that I heard about during the day, such as by listening to The Rush Limbaugh Program and The Sean Hannity Show, which are nationally syndicated radio shows, was the story about Nancy Pelosi (who is a Democrat and is the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives) and the CIA, and the focus of the story was on whether Nancy Pelosi or the CIA lied about the idea that the CIA passed on information about "waterboarding" to Nancy Pelosi in the early 2000s. Well, how did you favorite television broadcasting network cover the story in the 6:30 p.m. (eastern-time zone feed) newscast on the day? The story managed to get covered by ABC-TV, even though George Stephanolopous was sitting in for Charlie Gibson as anchor, and, in fact, the story was the first story covered for the half-hour news block. The first story for CBS-TV and NBC-TV was related to General Motors Corporation and its having to announce the breaking of ties with or the closing of dealerships across the country, and then as CBS-TV and NBC-TV continued on, and, in the end, neither covered the Pelosi/CIA story. What do you think about that? The story was important for you to know, because it was a national-security matter and was related to the security of the nation and the military of the nation. (By the way, NBC-TV did use time in the newscast to do an important story--a story related to the two-hour special that the network was going to air at 9:00 p.m. on this day, and the special was about actress Farrah Fawcett and was called Farrah's Story.)
Advertisement (a sustainer):: Mark R. Levin of The Mark Levin Show (a nationally syndicated radio show) has an important book in publication, and it is called Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto. This book talks about how the individual, such as you, is losing rights in the country because of government policies, especially those that have been pushed through by left-leaning politicians--Barack Obama, Democrats, Marxists, and such. You should see the book, read the book fully, and tell other persons about the book.
Let me remind you of a statement that Barack Obama made during the election campaign season of 2008 (particularly on September 18, 2008): "...Let's be clear, what we've seen the last few days is nothing less than the final verdict on an economic policy that has completely failed..." (More words associated with this statement can be found in my document entitled Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama, particularly near the end of the statement).
On Tuesday, May 19, 2009, Barack Obama presented to the world--the United States of America really--new CAFE fuel standards for forthcoming vehicles, and with him were Arnold Schwarzenegger (the governor of California, which is nearly insolvent) and Jennifer Granholm (the governor of Michigan, which is nearly in depression mode). This cliche comes to mind: What's wrong with the picture? If you saw a photograph with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jennifer Granhold, and Barack Obama related to that day, I hope you saw an Austrian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a Canadian (Jennifer Granholm), and, in essence, a Kenyan (Barack Obama).
Announcement: Do not forget to promote or take part in "tea parties," which are anti-Obama events!
So did you catch on television the conversation contained with this paragraph? Neil Cavuto works for the Fox News Channel, the Web site of which is FOXNews.com, and Neil Cavuto on Monday, May 18, 2009, interviewed Jim Anderer, who was a Chrysler dealer based in Long Island, New York, and whose business was being shut down by the federal government (the federal government had recently announced what Chrysler dealers were to lose contracts with Chrysler). Neil Cavuto wondered what did the government provide as a reason to shut you down, and Jim Anderer answered: "They won't give use a solid explanation. They come up with all these reasons but none of them seem to make sense."
Neil Cavuto: "What were the reasons?"
Jim Anderer: "Well, they'll say that they want to combine all the stores or they say that the dealers cost the manufacturer money to keep in business and all of these might be true in some cases but in the dealers that they cut, there seems to be no, ah, cohesive way that they did it. There was no process that you could put your finger on and say, 'Hey, we cut 25 percent of the lowest performing dealers. They didn't do that.. Okay? Nobody will give us a real clear explanation or formula that they came up with...."
There was more to the interview, and Neil Cavuto wondered if Jim thought they (the federal government people, especially Barack Obama it seems) had it out for you, personally.
Jim Anderer: "No, no, no. But I think there is a lot of favorite dealers, there's some collusion."
Neil Cavuto: "Do you know unequivocally of dealers who are pathetic, who are not getting it done that have been saved?"
Jim Anderer: "Yes."
Neil Cavuto: "Can you name them?"
Jim Anderer: "Yes. I, I don't want to do that because, you know, a lot of these guys are friends of mine. But, you know, the numbers are there, the numbers reveal that. Okay, right on Long Island, there's some guys who really shouldn't be there. But I'm not going to reveal their names...."
The final text presented within this document is very important, and you should read it fully, and it is related to Cavuto's noting that Jim is effectively done for.
The final statement from Jim was: "This is insanity! The government is stealing my business! Well, I cannot accept that as a patriotic American! I was raised in this country to, to believe that, if I work hard and I achieve what I was going after--and I did, I did it, I got it--and now all of a sudden because, you know, we have a president who pushes Chrysler in to bankruptcy and puts all of these UAW workers out! Didn't have to! Maybe, some of them had to go out, but not all of them. Okay? This doesn't happen in America! This is still America, I think! I mean this is not Stalinist Russia! This is not Nazi Germany, where the troopers say 'You're out, and you're buddies are in!' That's what I'm faced with."
I add this to make you wonder. Did the federal government purposely chose dealerships that were doing well so that they could hurt them? Remember: Barack Obama has shown he dislikes achievers or those who run businesses and do well. Did the federal government shut down the dealerships related to people who were registered as "Republicans" for voting? States do have records of what political party that a person is registered with for voting.Well, let me cover a topic that I could have talked about in the previous edition of T.H.A.T., but I decided to put off till this edition. On Tuesday, May 6, 2009, WWJ-TV began to carry a new local-based weekday news block, which runs from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. The news block is called "First Forecast Mornings," which has much time devoted to traffic and weather, but the news block does offer news, which is, in essence, compiled by staffers of the Detroit Free Press, which is a highly "liberal" newspaper and heavily promotes "manmade global warming" (often offering nonsense stories). "For the record," I note that the main "on-air talents" for the news block are Mike Brookbank (who is the news anchor), Lori Pinson (who does the weather bits), and Randy Bhirdo (who does the traffic bits), and, by the way, Mike Brookbank comes from Chicago, Illinois!

On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, the Detroit Free Press published an article entitled "Michigan tax revenues fall nearly 13%" (Christoff, Chris. "Michigan tax revenues fall nearly 13%." Detroit Free Press, 13 May 2009, p. 11A.). In the article, a man named David Littmann, who is associated with the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, made a prediction, and the prediction was that the unemployment rate for Michigan could end up between 17 percent and 20 percent by the end of the year (by the way, I heard the man talk about this prediction on WJR-AM the day previous). It occurs to me that since the unemployment rate in Detroit is already at least 22.2 percent, it seems very likely to me the unemployment rate in Detroit will go much, much higher, maybe up to 30 percent or 35 percent or more, and if the rate reaches 30 percent or more, think about what Detroit will look like. (Currently, the unemployment rate is near 13 percent for Michigan.)
In the previous edition of T.H.A.T., I posed a trivia question, and that trivia question was about a blonde bombshell who appeared in, as I noted, an episode of The Jack Benny Program in 1958 and Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer (the version featuring Darren McGavin as Mike Hammer). The answer to the question is Joi Lansing or Joy Lansing (I accept either answer since she used both names). I say that it surely was nice to again see Joy Lansing, a woman shaped like a woman and not like an emaciated vegetarian or a over-thin model (with no decernible parts), as is commonplace today.
Announcement for the novice: To get useful news, go to Fox News Channel, WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama, as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (to learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the Fox News Channel and those mentioned with it in presenting political stories and events, and you should discover CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV avoid covering things that make Barack Obama look bad or show his true nature, which could harm you). If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you.
On Saturday, May 23, 2009, I saw an episode of Antiques Roadshow, which was presented by WCMU-DT, and the episode took place in Hartford, Conn., and, by the way, had a copyright date of 2009 (the showing of the episode was a repeat showing). In the episode, a jewelry specialist named Brej Zavian appeared in one segment with a woman, who brought a piece of jewelry to be appraised, and the jewelry was worth much, but it was jewelry that she was wearing that is important for my talk here. For one, she was wearing a necklace that Brej's father had made years ago, and it was a surprise to Brej Zavian and to the woman. The piece of jewelry around the woman's neck is still prized by the woman, and one of the reasons is Brej's father did not do "crap" work, or Brej's father had pride in what he did as an individual and did good work. Then, we come to Barack Obama, a man who has done nothing and promotes doing mediocre or bad work, as is shown by, for one, the tax cheats and sloppy speaking press secretary (Robert Gibbs) who Barack Obama has surrounded himself with and is shown also in Barack Obama's closing down in the near future a special school in Washington, D.C., for disadvantage children, who like the school because it is better than the schools of the public school system of Washginton, D.C., to which none of Barack Obama's two darlings ("darlings" ?) have to go. (By the way, what are in the minds and what can you expect to be in the minds of two girls raised by people like Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, two communists? To understand what is in the minds of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, you should see my documents entitled Political Lessons for the Individual Woman and the Individual Man in the United States of America, Nonsense Statements and Quotations of Barack Obama, and A Collection of Words--Just Words--That Show Dangerous People.)
Good for you, Brej! You have pride, and you have pride in your father. What does Barack Obama have for his father? I do not know. Disfunctional--this word comes to my mind about the family.
