Special Important Announcement
I now have videos on YouTube, and they are history pieces, and they can be found at the channel for "The Hologlobe Press" (the search term). One of the videos is about my making of a model of 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, and other videos are about Ms. Anna May Wong, Ms. Sandy Benson (The Naked Lady of The Soupy Sales Show of KABC-TV), and WAYN-AM (of Wayne State University). By the way, you can use this Videos link to read about my videos. And I still have a document at the website for The Hologlobe Press entitled A COVID-19 Document that Shows the Rottenness of the CDC, Many in the Medical Community, Many in the Media, and All the Democrats, such as Gretchen Whitmer, Andrew Cuomo, and Joseph Biden, and the document can be reached by using this COVID-19 link.

In 1961, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission--Newton N. Minow--said that television was a "vast wasteland." To me, it seems Newton N. Minow was probably an elitist and bookish, and he probably thought he was better than most. I have some 52 years of research related to television, and I can say that, overall, the history of what television is and what it has put out is no worse or better than the history of radio, the history of books, the history of newspapers and magazines, and, for instance, the history of videos (such as those available on YouTube). Much of the stuff in the media world that gets big audiences is fluff, such as about a particular musical performer or actor. In the case of books, the topics had have been put range from useful (such as about fixing a car) to fluff (such as about astrology), and the fluff on the shelves far out fills more shelves than the good, as a look in a library or a bookstore can show, and it seems--because of corrupt writers and historians--many books about political figures are loaded with crap, especially those ties to political figures of the Democratic Party, in this day and age, so the book industry is a vast waste land. Radio has not done since 1920s much more in providing great materials than television has, and it is basically fluff; radio with music has been affected adversely by rap and hip hop and the like, which is crap. Look at what gets big numbers on YouTube--often it is junk, like people talking about themselves or showing pets or whatever. In the the cases of radio, books, television, newspapers and magazines, and videos, I can say that all are about the same and have become more ugly in the last thirty years or so, and all are equally involved in presenting a wasteland. You may be wondering if this edition of Television History and Trivia will have much beautiful stuff or nice stuff, and I report that it has some nice stuff and beautiful stuff, but it shows off ugly stuff, too, as it has to, and, certainly, some of the stuff is wasteland stuff.
A little after 6:00 p.m. (Detroit Time) on Saturday, July 13, 2024, a gunman shot at former U.S. President Donald J. Trump during a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, and the shots resulted in an ear injury to Donald J. Trump, a death of a spectator, and the injuries to two spectators, and shortly after that, at least ABC-TV, CBS-TV, and NBC-TV broke into programming with special reports and then hours of coverage. I joined in on the coverage by the three broadcast networks at about 7:00 p.m., upon discovering special coverage was going on, and, by the way, I was in Upper Michigan (and not in the Detroit area), and affiliates of the three broadcast networks would drop coverage at 11:00 p.m. to run local newscasts. The some four hours of continuous coverage by ABC-TV, CBS-TV, and NBC-TV that I saw reminded me of the rotten coverage done by the three networks in relation to Donald J. Trump in the recent past, such as the impeachment events (sham events and corrupt events), which are talked about in several documents that are available at the website for The Hologlobe Press, such as some Television History and Trivia documents, and the documents show the rottenness of the reporting and show the corrupt reporting by people on staff for the main broadcast television networks. For the coverage on the evening on July 13, 2024, Whit Johnson was the anchor for ABC-TV, and Adriana Diaz and then Margarete Brennan were the anchors for CBS-TV, and Lester Holt was the main anchor for NBC-TV. I tried to catch the names of the reporters for the three broadcast networks, and I probably did not catch all, but I now show the names of those who took part in the broadcasts and whom I could get for a list--Mary Bruce, Dasha Burns, Robert Costa, Rico Elmore, Jillian Frankel, Major Garrett, Garrett Haake, Hallie Jackson, Jonathan Karl, Rick Klein, Scott MacFarlane, Josh Margolin, Donald Mihalek, Elizabeth Neuman, Kelly O'Donnell, Ed O'Keefe, Martha Raddatz, Olivia Rinaldi, John Santucci, A.T. Smith, Rachel Scott, Pierre Thomas, Samantha Vinograd, Kristen Welker, and Tom Winter. I was well aware of those who really were screw-ups and rotten, based on my having seen and reported on broadcasts that covered Donald J. Trump special events in the past, such as Pierre Thomas, Martha Raddatz, Jonathan Karl, Kristen Welker, Major Garrett, and Scott MacFarlane. A lot of the broadcast time was filled with reporters who stated the obvious, describing over and over again what was shown on the screen, but there were moments when staffers could not help but push propaganda. For one, Major Garrett got on the subject of the Trump campaign's working to change upcoming speeches, which would contain thoughts about the shooting event, and Major Garrett worked to sell the idea that the speeches would be "rhetoric," a term used to put down speeches and describe certain speeches as nonsense. Scott MacFarlane hinted that the some of the crowd--right after the shooting--"turned on us" [the media], suggesting some of the crowd was made up of rotten people (or many in of the crowd was rotten or the MAGA crowd was rotten). Margaret Brennan, who came off to me as ugliest (of mind, especially) of all the people whom I saw because of her nature and tone, pushed out the idea that Donald J. Trump's first social-media message about the event did not work to calm supporters or, really, work to stop his supporters from doing violence, even though it was certainly not a Trump supporter who was involved in doing the shooting,.and Margaret Brennan's theme was used to push out another lie that MAGA people are the violent ones and not, for instance, the "Black Lives Matter" people and others who had taken part in hundreds of violence protests and riots of the summer of 2020. During the broadcasts, anchors and reporters worked to sell the idea that they were concerned with Donald J. Trump's health, although they had been working for months and years to push the ideas that Donald J. Trump was a "Hitler"-type and was "dangerous to democracy." Martha Raddatz brought out a topic that came off as really ugly, and it was when she said that the event should be "sobering" for Donald J. Trump and his family, suggesting to me her intention to sell the idea that he deserved it or had brought it on and was a rotten man, even though it had been the Democrats who had been involved in allowing criminal-type to riot and steal and not get prosecuted over the last several years (such as if a single-event theft is not more than $950 in value in California (related to Penal Code 459.5)). The broadcasts were yet more sham broadcast events, giving the news people and news networks managers a chance to sell to the American public that they are viable and concerned with the country.
[Note: Margaret Brennan, who always looks cold and hard, hosted Face the Nation (of CBS-TV) on Sunday, July 14, 2024, and I tuned into the program right when Margaret Brennan was working to cover her ass and make herself look good. She noted how she made a statement the previous night about Mr. Donald J. Trump's not working to lower the "temperature" during his (at least) first social-media post on the previous night. Her talk was given at about 11:27 a.m. (Detroit time) at the end of the weekly Sunday program. Her habit of working to put down Donald J. Trump got push back since she had made the statement on July 13, 2024. Good journalists never make such a statement as she had. And that shows the nature of Margaret Brennan. On This Week with George Stephanopoulos of ABC-TV on Sunday, July 14, 2024, Martha Raddatz pushed out crap again, suggesting that Donald J. Trump, after having been shot in the ear, was inciting violence and not calming down people by putting his fist up in the air and saying some like "...Fight, fight....". Also on George Stephanopoulos pushed out on the show the idea that the "supporters" of Donald J. Trump have contributed to the "violent rhetoric" in the country. But Martha Raddatz might have had the biggy of the day by running through some things that Donald J. Trump had said in the past, such as about a "blood bath", which it was likely to happen if such-and-such took place, but, once again, the statement used by Martha Raddatz was taken out of context, as had been done by other big media reporters and anchors in the past.]Hey, let me take a break from television only to pass along something that shows off the nature of the main media (which contains the main commercial television news entities). On Monday, July 22, 2024, the Detroit Free Press published an article called "As Trump rallied in GR, hate group met in Howell" [Staff reports (Livingston Daily). "As Trump rallied in GR, hate group met in Howell." Detroit Free Press, 22 July 2024, p. 4A.], and the article worked to tie Donald J. Trump to "white supremacists," and that was making a false or fake connection. The article opened with--"HOWELL -- As Donald Trump prepared to take the stage in Grand Rapids on Saturday, his first rally since an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, white supremacists, some of whom voiced support for the former president, were preparing to demonstrate in Howell....". Donald J. Trump and Donald J. Trump's getting ready for a speech has no links to the group who was the subject of the article, but the newspaper worked--at least a little--to further the myth that Donald J. Trump in some way supports like groups. By the way, "GR" (Grand Rapids, Michigan) is some 85 miles away from Howell (Howell, Michigan), so it is not as if the group was a block or two away from where Donald J. Trump was going to speak. The writers of the article corrupted news and truth.
The CW pushed out new ugly television on Tuesday, July 23, 2024--it pushed out the first episode of the new season of 61st ST. It is a series that is aimed--it seems--at inner-city gutter blacks, especially inner-city gutter young blacks. For example, at the open of the episode, I saw a bunch to young (mostly) black people talking one at a time about something or other, and they looked like slugs. The oldest of the group was a woman who had "black lives matter." on the front of her shirt. That "Black Lives Matter" theme is a communistic theme, which was started by two black communistic gals, and the thing turned out to be a corrupt entity. Where is the money? Courtney B. Vance plays the main character, and Courtney B. Vance's character came off as a preachy communistic activist in the opening sequences--like a Barack Obama (with less pleasantness in presentation). Actually, the episode of the series came off as a racist-pushing (or race-baiting) thing early, so I turned it off, soon after having gotten the opening credits on tape. It surely was not entertainment! It was crap and ugly!
Here is yet more ugliness. I did not watch the Olympics, such as the opening ceremonies which had an ugly theme related to "drug queens' and such and an attack on Christianity. The more ugliness is that two men--restructured to be like women--were allowed to box with real women, and the two shits were Imane Khelif (of Algeria) and Lin Yu-Ting (of Taiwan). And that is the shit you get from the people of the Olympics, and only shits take part in the Olympics. Hold it! On the day after I had written most of this paragraph, I was exposed to this story on the Internet--"Italian boxer quits Olympics bout after just 46 seconds against athlete who failed 'gender test' [Quadri, Sami. "Italian boxer quits Olympics bout after just 46 seconds against athlete who failed 'gender test'." msn.com, 1 August 2024.]; Angela Carini (of Italy) got a broken nose from Imane Khelif and quit the Olympics. Yes, that is the shit you get from the people of the Olympics, a rotten organization. By the way, did your favorite national or local news entity report the story, or did it dodge it? I am not done. On August 2, 2024, I caught this story--"Boxer leaves ring in tears after second Olympic fighter who failed gender test wins" [Davie, Chris. "Boxer leaves ring in tears after second Olympic fighter who failed gender test wins." msn.com, 2 August 2024.]. In this story, Lin Yu-Ting (a male who was made to look somewhat like a female) beat up on Sitora Turdibekova (of Uzbekistan). Yes, men beat up on women at the Olympics, or men were punching out the faces of women. After each fight listed in this paragraph, I saw no big revolt from Olympic athletes, who should have balked at continuing to take part in the Olympics. In 2022, Simone Biles was given a "United States Presidential Medal of Freedom." I know not why. What was her qualification for winning? She was only a gymnast, and she is only a gymnast. Simone Biles had no angry action against the management of the Olympics (which might have shown a reason for her getting a Medal of Freedom), but she won medals at the Olympics at Paris. There, she did have the nerve to sort of put down Donald J. Trump, who had pushed out in the debate with Joseph Biden on June 27, 2024, that illegals are taking away jobs from blacks in the United States of America, or from 18-million to 20-million illegal aliens are affecting the ability of blacks to get jobs in the United States of America. [A good and smart person knows the statement was not to put down blacks, and a good and smart person knows the statement was only made to focus on blacks this time, who are getting screwed by the Democratic Party through the immigration policies that are being followed by the Democratic Party, such as the head--Joseph Biden--as are whites and others.] Simone Biles pushed out--"I love my black job.". What she does is no "black job." Of the some 10-billion persons on the planet, she has a special, special job, or what she does is super special and cannot be tied to the statement related to "black jobs." Simone Biles is unaffected by illegal aliens in relation to a job, but millions of blacks and whites and others in the country are because of the big rise in non-citizens in the country--illegal aliens. Based on what Simone Biles did through her statement and what she did not do in relation to men beating up on women at the Olympics, I can say that Simone Biles has a mind full of piles of shit, and her husband--Jonathan Owens (nothing more than a professional-football player)--backed her up, and that makes him a piece of shit, too. And that is some of the crap that went on at the Olympics in Paris, France. [Limehouse, Jonathan, and Jay Stahl, Rachel Morin, Barfield Barry, Terry Collins, and Ayrton Ostly. "'I love my Black job.': Simone Biles takes jab at Donald Trump's debate comment." USA Today, 2 August 2024, 1:56 p.m..]
By the way, did your local news entity give you this ugliness as news, which is truly, truly nationally important? On Monday, July 29, 2024, the Governor of Minnesota--Tim Walz--took part in a fundraising event by Zoom for Kamala Harris, and the event was called "White Dudes for Harris" (which comes off a racist). During the event, Tim Walz pushed out--"...Don't ever shy away from our progressive values. One person's socialism is another person's neighborliness....". I state--It is a bullshit statement! Progressivism and socialism and communism are "enslavism"--allowing only a few (a few rulers)--to have freedom (the freedom to hurt others), or that is the nature of the values of progressivism and socialism and communism. "Neighborliness" has nothing to do with socialism and communism and progressivism, unless you are talking about getting neighbors to spy on neighbors for the government, which, for instance, happened in the 1930s with Germany under the socialistic rule of Adolph Hitler. [Miller, Andrew Mark. "Potential Harris VP ripped for 'weird' socialism comparison to 'neighborliness.'" foxnews.com, 30 July 2024, 3:54 p.m. EDT.]
Announcement for the novice again (reworked in March 2019): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, try Breitbart News Network (the history of which goes back to 2007), WorldNetDaily.com, Newsmax TV (which was started up in 2014), CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), and One America News Network (a.k.a. OAN), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama-type people (communists, socialists, progressives, liberals, and Shariaists), as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned). I note that the Fox News Channel is evolving into a rotten channel, becoming like those that I have put down in this paragraph. If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and even now much of what is on the Fox News Channel and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you. In 2019, "The Drudge Report" was sold, and it should be treated as suspect for now. [Note: Everyone in the Democratic Party in the country is rotten, and the Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people tied to the Republican Party are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]
[Note: Here is an example of Chris Christie's rottenness. On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Chris Christie was a guest on This Week with George Stephanopoulos (of ABC-TV), which had Martha Raddatz as the host, and Christ Christie pushed out crap. For example, Chris Christie said--"...And let's face it. Let's call it what it is. January 6 was a riot that was incited by Donald Trump...an effort to intimidate Mike Pence and the Congress into doing exactly what he said in his own words last week--overturn the election. And he's trying to do a cleanup on aisle one here...." and "...He actually told the truth by accident. He wanted the election to be overturned....". That is bullshit!]A bunch of changes have taken place in the Detroit broadcast market in relation to broadcast television channels recently, and I note that the heyday of the subchannel universe in Detroit has passed, and maybe I could say that the heyday ended with the shutting down of "Television Drive-In" (a simple movie channel) a couple of years ago. First, I begin with the period of from July 16, 2024, to July 25, 2024. On July 16, 2024, I returned to the Detroit area, and I found changes with the subchannel universe. Cozi was getting a run on Channel 4.2 and Channel 4.4; this (a network) was gone. NEWSnet was on Channel 3.1 and Channel 15.2, now. By the way, some shopping channels were getting a run on at least two channels in the Detroit area at the same time, and one of those was ShopLC. Defy was getting two runs--Channel 18.1 and Channel 19.1. Incidentally, recently, I had reported that The 365 (a network aimed at inner-city blacks) was on Channel 18.6 and Channel 19.5, and nothing was changed with that.
Oh, I say that there were too many useless crime-type channels, the newest of which was American Crimes (which is on Channel 19.2). Too many of the same type of shows are run on more than one network, such as Sanford and Son, All in the Family, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Carol Burnett Show, Monk, and Wiseguy, and there are too many "Law and Order"-related and "CSI"-related shows. There are so many channels and so few different shows. It was reported decades ago that, when there are many, many channels, there would be so much to choose from, and that is not what exists in the subchannel universe today, especially when a person remembers how many shows there have been over the decades (such as the roughly 600 filmed half-hour entertainment series of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, which are watchable today and a bunch of which can be sampled through YouTube).
In going back to the July 2024 period, I found that when NEWSnet was now running on Channel 15.2, WHPS-TV (which for many years had been WHPR-TV or so) disappeared from the broadcast universe.
On August 8, 2024, I once again returned to the Detroit area, after having been gone from the area since July 25 2024, and there were more changes. On that day, Channel 15.2 was back to carrying WHPS-TV and stuff again, and NEWSnet was gone from the channel. NEWSnet was also going from Channel 3.1, and on Channel 3.1 was ShopHQ, which was also running on Channel 3.3. Channel 3.2 no longer had the sport network called Sports News Highlights, and the channel now had a travel-related channel--FunRoadsTV. Channel 38.2 had a different service--what was running was the audio signal of 910AM Superstation (a radio station) (and there was only a graphic on the television screen). And yet another shopping channel was around, and it was GEM (a jewelry-related selling channel), which was now on Channel 38.5.
Basically, the changes seen on July 16, 2024, showed a worse subchannel university than that which had been around, and the changes seen on August 8, 2024, showed even more of a drop in the quality of the subchannel universe. In the past, I have noted how Tim Kiska and Ed Golick--associates and so-called television-history guys of the Detroit area--have done crap work in relation to Detroit television history, and now I get around to more nonsense, particularly that from Ed Golick. For a number years or decades, Ed Golick has had televison-history-related pages about Detroit television at "www.detroitkidshow.com". One page is "J.D. BEEMER HE WALKED THE WALK". It has a number of history errors, which will probably never get corrected, since Ed Golick is a sloppy history reporter. For example, an early line in the webpage from Ed Golick is--"Justice Colt made his debut in June of 1950. The hour-long show aired Monday thru Friday at 3:30 p.m.". By the way, "Justice Colt" or "Cowboy Colt" as he would be called from 1950 to 1957 was played by J.D. Beemer (either on Channel 7 or Channel 9). Ed Golick put "Justice Colt" in italics, so that means he was talking about a title of a show or series. However, it was on Monday, June 26, 1950, when a show called Cowboy Colt made a debut on WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, at 5:45 p.m., and it ran for 15 minutes (not one hour). For the first week, the show was only on on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and there was no Friday show. Generally speaking, from June 26, 1950, to Friday, December 22, 1950, the show was usually on for 15 minutes on weekdays. The show was off for a few months, and then it returned on Monday, April 30, 1951, at 4:30 p.m., and it was now a one-hour show for weekday afternoons. I will not give the full broadcast schedule. The last show on WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, was on Friday, September 24, 1954. On Monday, October 3, 1954, J.D. Beemer began to host Justice Colt on weekday afternoons on CKLW-TV, Channel 9, which was in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Ed Golick's webpage has--"When Colt was cancelled in March of 1957, J.D. moved to Los Angeles to further purse an acting career.". I report that Justice Colt had a last showing on Friday, April 26, 1957 (from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Ed Golick also has this on his webpage--"The show [Cowboy Colt] became so popular that a Sunday version started airing in October of 1953. Mello-D Ranch was sponsored by Ira Wilson Diary and featured a new cast member, J.D.'s wife Gloria Goode, as Miss G.". Actually, on Sunday, September 27, 1953, Mello-D Roundup made a debut on WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, and it ran weekly and for one hour each time, and the last episode for the series was on Sunday, September 19, 1954. Wilson Diary sold "Mello-D Milk." And that is another look at Ed Golick's sloppy history work.
For twenty years and a little more, I have been putting Television History and Trivia documents on the Internet at the website for The Hologlobe Press (on a monthly basis), and over the time, prime-time broadcast network television has become less diverse (having much of the same type of one-hour depressing drama shows) and has become uglier, as I have shown in recent documents. Here, I am going to go back in time to show a time when television--for prime-time viewers--was not ugly in the least. I go to the evening of August 10, 1954. By the way, around this time, because of four commercial networks and the syndication marketplace (of movies and television series) and local television stations stuff, prime-time was made up of crime shows, science-fiction shows, comedy shows, news shows, drama shows, variety shows, movies, et cetera. On Tuesday, August 10, 1954, WJBK-TV had from 7:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., seven programs, each of which was 30-minutes long (which included commercial time). The programming for the evening began at 7:00 p.m. (Detroit time) with an episode of The Goldbergs, the story line for which was about the running of a hotel called Pincus Pines. Gertrude Berg played the main character of the series--Molly Goldberg. And this episode was a presentation of the DuMont Television Network, which would exist till September 15, 1955. WJBK-TV was an affiliate of the DuMont Television Network and the CBS Television Network at the time. On YouTube, today, several episodes of The Goldbergs from May 1954 ad June 1954 can be found. For this fun document, I am urging you to set up a time to see at least one episode of The Goldbergs, and, really, this section of this document is designed to get you to see episodes of other series that are talked about. If you see all the series talked about, you will get a feel for the tone of prime-time television in Detroit on August 10, 1954, at least in relation to WJBK-TV. At 7:30 p.m. on the subject day, WJBK-TV had an episode of Death Valley Days, and the episode was "Which Side of the Fence", and it was a story about the border between California and the Nevada Territory in 1860. This episode featured such performers as Richard Emory, Lyn Thomas, Hal K. Dawson, an Earle Hodgins, and the episode can be found on YouTube today. Today, the Grit network runs episodes of Death Valley Days on weekdays, and the episode may exist in the package that Grit has. Death Valley Days was a syndicated half-hour weekly filmed series in all the years that it existed, and Channel 2 used the series on August 10, 1954, to bump off CBS-TV programming for 30 minutes. At 8:00 p.m., Channel 2 blocked out CBS programming with an episode of the syndicated series called Foreign Intrigue. I know not the episode shown on the subject day, but I know James Daly played the main character--Michael Powers, a writer--in the episode. The series was made in Europe under the guidance of Sheldon Reynolds, who around the same time was instrumental in the making of the Sherlock Holmes series that had Ronald Howard playing Sherlock Holmes, and that Sherlock Holmes series is yet seen on Retro TV today. On YouTube, an episode with James Daly called "Jet Planes" exists so that you can get a feel for the series. Over the years, the series while it was in syndication was also called Dateline Europe. James Daly was really famous for starring in Medical Center (a one-hour medical drama) on CBS-TV from September 1969 to September 1976. At 8:30 p.m. (Detroit time), WJBK-TV aired an episode of a series--Suspense--pushed out by CBS-TV, and the episode was "The Iron Cup". In essence, Suspense was a series that presented horror stories or mystery stories. Retro TV has aired episodes of the series--kinescope versions--in recent years. On YouTube, you might stumble across episodes, such as the episode from 1952 called 'The Crooked Frame", which features Richard Kiley and Neva Patterson. An episode of Danger (a CBS-TV series) was shown by WJBK-TV at 9:00 p.m., and the episode was called "A Handful of Salt". The main performer in the episode of Danger was Eva Gabor, who did a lot of television work from the 1940s to the 1970s, such as on Green Acres, which is a series that is carried by MeTV today. On YouTube, you can find the episode of Danger called "Death is My Neighbor, and some of the performers in it are Walter Hampden, Betsy Palmer, and James Dean. James Dean did a number of performances in the early days of network television, but he is most known for playing in a couple movies of the 1950s, one of which is Giant. The series was put to kinescope, which is a reason that "Death is My Neighbor" exists today, and you will see that the host for the episode is Dick Stark if you see it. Danger was a CBS-TV series. At 9:30 p.m. (Detroit time), Channel 2 had an episode of Your Favorite Story, which was a syndicated series; over the years, the series also had these names--Your Favorite Playhouse, Stage 7, and My Favorite Story (depending on the year and more). Adolph Menjou was the host for the series, and I can prove that he performed as at least one character in the series by having you go to YouTube to see the episode called "How Much Does a Man Need", and it is an episode that has Raymond Burr in it, and about three years after the show was made, Raymond Burr would begin to play Perry Mason in the Perry Mason series. At 10:00 p.m., a local news show called Standard News (or Standard News with Jac LeGoff) with Jac LeGoff began to run, and it ran for 15 minutes. The word "Standard" was in the title, since the main sponsor of the newscast (of weekdays) was Standard Oil Company. August 10, 1954, was part of the time when there were still "showmen" involved in making television shows, and the people were mostly focused on entertaining the television audience. Today, there are few "showmen," and people are mostly working to push political crap, such as gayism and lesbianism and communism and socialism and freakism in prime-time shows; by the way, somewhat recently I saw promos for two series on Tubi while watching, for example, UFL football, and one was about two gays and the other seemed to focus on two lesbians. Why the hell would I want to subscribe to Tubi? Incidentally, my eight videos on YouTube--at the channel called "The Hologlobe Press"--make up more than two hours of stuff, and my stuff is more likable and nice than any hour or two hours or three hours (as a block of programming) on prime-time television today.
On Monday, July 22, 2024, I got exposed to more evidence that the hosts of The Nine (a morning-fluff show on WJBK-TV on weekdays) are rather dumb. At about 9:06 a.m., I tuned into the program, and Ryan Ermanni, Maurielle Lue, and Lee Thomas were in the middle of talking about Joseph Biden and Joseph Biden's dropping out of the upcoming presidential election. Almost immediately, I got exposed to Lee Thomas's saying that he was unaware that Joseph Biden was mentally defective till he saw the debate between Joseph Biden and Donald J. Trump, which had happened a few weeks previously. I report that, if Lee Thomas was a useful journalist (and he has anchored newscasts), he should have noticed a long time ago Joseph Biden's failing mind. If Lee Thomas cannot see such a thing, he probably will fail on many other thinking topics. To me, Lee Thomas came off as rather stupid, and stupidity is the commonplace quality of journalism today. Hold it! I am not done proving how stupid television people can be. On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, I tuned into The Nine at about 9:10 p.m., and this time, the show had Deena Centofanti, Maurielle Lue, and Ryan Ermanni, and their topic seemed to be about how, for example, processed foods and fast foods can be blamed for the fatness in the country, as noted by Deena Centofanti. Of course, there was no talk about how, since the 1970s, kids are almost always driven to school, and kids do not walk miles each day to get to school and to get away from school, as I did in the 1960s. There was no talk about how blacks have to be careful with calories in the U.S., since the heritage of blacks is tied to centuries of metabolizing food in hot and dry environments, where calories were harder to come by than in northern Europe, where farming was big and where people also did not run miles and miles to capture food, such as animals. In the few minutes that I watched The Nine on July 24, 2024, Ryan Ermanni came up with the biggest stupid stuff. Ryan Ermanni suggested that people should look at the fans of baseball games in the 1950s--there were few fat people. And then Ryan Ermanni pushed out this point--That is why we need government to "help out" and pass laws about what should and should not be in food. Of course, Ryan Ermanni did not point out that the federal government has been involved in setting standards for foods for over one-hundred years, and yet in the last few decades, the fatness seems to have steadily increased. Yes, Ryan Ermanni wants more government control! That is stupid stuff. And the three hosts of The Nine did not mention how the break up on the family has left women raising kids alone, and that means there is no strong man around in a lot of households to tell kids sternly what they can and cannot have to eat.
Announcement: Recently, I have added some new documents to the collection of my documents at the website for The Hologlobe Press. One of the documents is entitled A Document that Dispels Myths and Nonsense of Science-Fiction Books, Movies, and Television Shows (A Logic Puzzle), which can be reached through this Myths link. Another document is And So You Think You're Going to the Moon, Mars, or the Stars..., which can be reached by using this Moon link. And yet another of the documents is entitled And the Stupid Women Shall Lead--and Lead Every Good Individual into Shit, Driven on by Communism, Feminism, and Defective Female Beliefs and Little-Girl Thinking, which can be reached through this Stupid Women link. And here are other documents--A Review of What Television Controlled by Socialists and Communists Worked to Sell as Truth in Relation to the U.S. President Donald J. Trump Impeachment (at Impeachment) and T.H.A.T. Special Edition--The First Helicopter-based Traffic Reporters on Radio for the Detroit area of Michigan (at Helicopter Traffic).
For years and decades, people have had a lot of wrong information about the end of the DuMont Television Network. I have shown a number of times in Television History and Trivia documents that the network was ended on September 15, 1955, and I show that date in one of my videos that exists at the channel for "The Hologlobe Press" on YouTube. That brings up the idea that many people have the wrong idea about what the last "DuMont TV" show was and really aired. People say that the last show was a boxing show that ended in August 1956 (and they do not give the exact date). Well, let me pass along fact. In September 1955, CKLW-TV was the DuMont Television Television affiliate for the Detroit/Windsor area, and on September 12, 1955, it aired an episode of Boxing from St. Nicholas Arena, and it was the last episode to be broadcast on the DuMont Television Network, and it was the last show for the network as a broadcast network. But the show did not cease production, as did not another show--What's the Story (the last three showings for which were on September 9, 1955 (as a network show), September 16, 1955, and September 23, 1955). Boxing from St. Nicholas Arena continued on on a weekly basis. CKLW-TV aired Boxing from St. Nicholas Arena on September 19, 1955. So what was it? It was now a syndicated show, and CKLW-TV carried the show into late 1956. The last show was on October 1, 1956, and then on October 8, 1956, an episode of The Unexpected (a syndicated series from 1952 originally) was shown starting at 9:00 p.m., which had been the regular time for the boxing show for weeks and weeks. By the way, while I was tracking down Boxing from St. Nicholas Arena, I came across some information that knocks down some often reported stuff about a show called Chicago Symphony (of the DuMont Television Network), which notes that the show ended on April 4, 1955, but I can report that that unsponsored weekly music show was ended on January 5, 1955 (as noted in The Evening News (of Washington, D.C.) for Friday, December 31, 1955, on page B-11.). So Boxing from St. Nicholas Arena was actually a syndicated show from September 19, 1955, to October 1, 1956, and it was syndicated by telephone circuits, like other live syndicated shows of the 1950s and 1960s, especially in the 1960s, an example of which is The Mike Douglas Show.
Today, it seems local newscasts in Detroit only have commercials for jackass lawyers and gambling places or things and the disease of the month and other junk, such as for politicians, and the ads help to make the newscasts look more ugly. Recently, I saw a commercial on YouTube that I had seen on television in the 1960s. On YouTube, you can find the commercial, which is an animated product, and it has kids who are singing the Oscar Mayer Wiener song, and they are marching along happily in a line, and it has more. Today, your finding happy commercials on local broadcast television is hard to do, and your finding happy commercials for kids is the hardest.
Hold it! I almost forgot about this crap. The Guide is the monthly television listings publication for WCMU-TV (which is affiliate of the communistic and socialist PBS), Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. On the cover of the publication for June 2024, there is a photograph related to a television series called The Great American Recipe. It looks as if the hosts are featured. One is a white guy, and one seems to be a Hispanic gal, and one is a black gal, and one is an Asian guy. Such crap casting that is. I say in jest--Where is the transgender host? The casting is corrupt, used to push fake diversity and used to push diversity to idiocy. The people may be nice, but it is all political bullshit!
And I am not done with WCMU-TV. The signals for the four channels associated with WCMU-TV in, for instance, northeastern Lower Michigan showed up on July 31, 2024 [for me at least or for me to notice]; the signals had been knocked out by a transmitter-building fire a number of weeks previously. It is not as if I will watch anything on the channels again, unless I want to talk about in an edition of Television History and Trivia communistic presentations on the channels, especially those getting pushed out in PBS-based programs.
On Sunday, July 14, 2024, television viewers who only see broadcast television got exposed to more "ugly" television when Tulsa King (featuring Sylvester Stallone) showed up on CBS-TV. The series, which had originally showed up as a product on Paramount+, is called a comedy-drama, but the parts that I saw did not impress me. In addition, if I were on a date, such as with the gal (the Asian cutie) who appears in my video about the nude figurines that I made, I would not have her watch the show. It is not a "date" show for a person looking to have a pleasant time. I could suggest your seeing a movie that was shown on CKLW-TV, Channel 9, on Monday, March 7, 1955, beginning at 11:15 p.m.. It has romance in it. The movie is Lighthouse, and two of the main performers in it are John Litel and June Lang. It is a 1947 movie, and it was made at a time when the U.S. Coast Guard (which had taken over the Lighthouse Service some eight years previously) was beginning to phase out real lighthouse keepers at lighthouses and have U.S. Coast Guard guys take up the jobs, and it was a time when, generally speaking, manned lighthouses were being phased out at the same time, and, also, light bulb systems were in replacing oil-based light systems. With that information in mind, you might considered seeing Lighthouse on YouTube as part of a Looking at the Movies feature. And then see my video about how I made a model of 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, Rogers City, Michigan (which is at the channel on YouTube called "The Hologlobe Press"), and, incidentally, it was in the 1940s when electricity (from generators at first) was used to run an electric light in the tower at the real 40 Mile Point Lighthouse.
And I have this "for-the-record" section. I report that, from the first time on the air on Detroit television to the last time on the air on Detroit television (and you should forget about continuous run), Jack Van Impe holds the record, and he probably will forever, beating out even Sonny Eliot. I happened to see an ad in the Detroit Free Press for July 19, 2024 (on page 3A) related to Jack Van Impe, who was, in essence, an evangelist or television evangelist for decades and decades. The ad noted that, on July 22, 2024, a place called the Jack Van Impe Living Library & Worldwide Prophecy Center would open at 1718 Northfield Drive, Rochester Hills, Michigan, and the place would regularly be open on a Monday-through-Friday basis from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.
Stay well!Vic
P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link. I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man." For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Chris Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President. I note that the "mandate"--which forces everyone to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is attacked in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
