On December 9, 2020, a video entitled "It's a HORRIBLE time in history to be Honest and Ethical. People love the LIE" was posted on YouTube. The video features testimony from Dr. Pierre Kory, who is, for example, related to an entity called the "Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance" and to the St. Luke's Aurora Medical Center. In the video, Dr. Pierre Kory talks about an anti-viral called "ivermectin", which has been around for some time, and talks about using it to defeat COVID-19. The talk was given at a hearing (entitled "Early Outpatient Treatment: An Essential Part of the EN SVVID-19 Solution") at the U.S. Senate (related to the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs) on December 8, 2020. See the video!
[Note: In the spring of 2020, especially around April 2020, the Democrats and people in parts of the federal government (such as the FDA), were putting down using hydroxychloroquine, saying it was dangerous, but some doctors did use it, such as on a state representative of Michigan and her husband, who thanked U.S. President Donald J. Trump for making hydroxychloroquine more known. Keep in mind--then--in the spring, hydroxychloroquine was a decades-old drug and was not dangerous (when used properly). By the way, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (a Democrat and a socialist and a feminist (a.k.a. for all of them "enslavist")) was putting down and not promoting the drug while pushing the idea that blacks were dying of COVID-19 because the medical community was racist against blacks, and some Democrats around the country were pushing the idea that U.S. President Donald J. Trump was promoting the drug because he had stock in the company making the drug. "Ivermectin" is a known drug, and medical people know how to use it and handle it. Hold it! On December 14, 2020, the first person in the United States of America, who was in Florida, received a vaccine shot for COVID-19; companies that had developed the drug delayed telling the world that their work was done till right after the elecgion of November 3, 2020. In December 2020, once it looked as if Donald J. Trump was no longer going to be the U.S. president, the people of the American Medical Association were saying that hydroxycholoroquine could be used.]

On December 17, 2020, I was doing television research about Detroit, and when I was tracking down the broadcast dates of Rhythm on Parade (which also was shown as The Willie Bryant Show), I was listening to The Frank Beckmann Program of WJR-AM, which is based at the Fisher Building of Detroit. I was not in the Detroit area at the time; I was some 270 miles away and I was listening to the radio show on the Internet. At about 11:39 a.m. (Detroit time), Frank Beckmann reported, once again, that Jennifer Granholm (when she was the governor of Michigan) called Frank Beckmann's boss at WJR-AM and worked to get Frank Beckmann fired. On December 17, 2020, people already knew Joe Biden was pushing the idea of having Jennifer Granholm in charge of the U.S. Department of Energy, though her background has nothing to do with energy. Jennifer Granholm's background is political science, French, and law (having a Juris Doctor from Harvard University, the socialistic/communistic university), and, by the way, Jennifer Granholm was originally a Canadian citizen (and Canada is a socialistic country). Yes, Jennifer Granholm has no background in energy, but she has a thuggish background, working--while a governor--to push people to fire broadcasters that she did not like. Hold it! Hunter Biden, who is Joe Biden's son who is yet living, had no background in "energy," but Hunter Biden was able to be paid to be sort of in the management of a Ukrainian energy company. Jennifer Granholm is like Joe Biden, and both pushed along the idea of impeaching U.S. President Donald J. Trump. I have to get back to Willie Bryant in a way. Because of other things that I thought should be in this edition of Television History and Trivia, I will not yet talk about Willie Bryant and things related to Willie Bryant. Maybe Willie Bryant will finally get mentioned better in the next edition of Television History and Trivia.
Now see what I have in this edition of Television History and Trivia.
My favorite television channel of the Detroit area is related to WHNE-TV, and that favorite channel is Television Drive-In (which is Channel 3.6), but the channel could be better since the rotation of movies is weak within a week--that is, the same few movies are shown over and over within a week and more movies need to be put in the mix each week (making the rotating format more like the first version of the channel). On December 17, 2020, I went to the website--not the "facebook" page--for WHNE-TV, which is really a group of twelve channels, since, at the website, a person will find a program-listing system for all the Detroit-area television stations. On that day, I found this message at the top of the page--"WHNE is happy to announce the exciting new service here in Detroit! You can now watch all 12 WHNE channels without using an antenna and it's a FREE service! Locast is a public service to Americans, providng local broadcast signals (like WHNE) over the Internet. All you have to do is sign up online and certify that you live in the Detroit TV market, then, you can select among all the local broadcasters and stream your favorite local station. Click Here for more info". That brings me to a related subject. On December 10, 2020, "Business Wire" (a wire-service company) had this press release for people to see--Five Detroit Broadcast Stations Collaborating to Launch "Motown 3.0 Text Track" as NEXTGEN TV Broadcasts Begin in Motor City. It was about the launch of the NEXTGEN TV broadcasting format in the Detroit area, and it was also about the beginning of an automotive-related system "Motown 3.0 Open Test Track" [which I will not talk about here]. The television stations involved with the NEXTGEN TV format--so far--are WMYD-TV, WXYZ-TV, WDIV-TV, WWJ-TV, and WJBK-TV. NEXTGEN TV is thought of as the third generation of over-the-air "digital" television broadcasting (the third generation of quality of video and sound), and it will allow Internet-related features. It is underway in the Detroit area now, and it has been in other markets of the country for a while. To see the enhance video and audio being broadcast, a person has to have a NEXTGEN TV-capable television set. A person without a NEXTGEN TV-capable set will still do well, seeing things as they have been, so there is no reason to run out an buy a new television set or new television sets. WHNE-TV is not yet involved with WHNE-TV, but that is fine with me, but I wish it would improve the rotation format for Channel 3.6.
[Note: On or around December 22, 2020, for people in northern Lower Michigan and in eastern Upper Michigan, Channel 6.4 (associated with WCMU-TV) sort of showed up, and, for example, the channel showed information that the Michigan Learning Channel was going to show up on Channel 6.4 in January 2020.]Hey, did your favorite television newscaster, such as the useless Huel Perkins (WJBK-TV), Devin "Cuba Lover" Scillian (WDIV-TV), and Carolyn Clifford (WXYZ-TV), give you this. On December 21, 2020, the U.S. Congress passed a bill informally called, for instance, the "COVID-19 Relief Bill" (one part of a combined two bills), which was set down in over 5,000 pages and which had a spending figure of about $900-billion. For one, the bill would result in the federal government giving an American $600.00 and would result in the federal government giving some illegal aliens $1,800.00. [Note: More than $700-billion of the bill had nothing to do with COVID-19.] The bill was shit for many reasons, but your favorite television newscaster probably never pointed that out. On December 22, 2020, U.S. President Donald J. Trump reported that he would not sign the bill since it was full of shit and since an illegal alien (a foreigner and a lawbreaker) would get $1,800.00 and an American would get $600.00. Did your favorite television newscaster put down U.S. President Donald J. Trump for not signing the bill?
[Note: In a related matter, I heard on December 22, 2020, that the government in California was thinking of making a new tax, since the state was, in essence, bankrupt because of socialistic policies. The government in California was thinking of taxing wealth of people; that is, it was a tax on things that people had bought with money that had already been taxed. And it went beyond that. The government in California thought that it could tax people of the state for the next ten years, even if the people left the state (such as the day after such a law were made), and people who visited the state for more than 60 days in a year would be taxed, too. That is the mindset of killers and freaks (enslavists) and people who would stab you in the face with a knife. If the idea passes into law in California, do not think other rotten politicians in the remainder of the country would not pass such hellish rules. [Adler, Hank. "A California Plan to Chase Away the Rich, Then Keep Stalking Them." The Wall Street Journal, 18 December 2020, 5:44 p.m. ET.]]I have a section that goes back in time, here. Jane Fonda has been as supporter of communism since at least the 1960s, and yet people have bought her products, such as her exercise tapes. On Saturday, December 12, 2020, I looked at the TV Times magazine for The Windsor Star (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) for January 22, 1977/January 29, 1977, especially page 4. On that page, I found information related to a locally produced television show on WKBD-TV, Channel 50, that was called The Lou Gordon Program, which was set to air on Saturday, January 22, 1977, at 10:00 p.m.. The television listing had this material (related to show who was to be a guest)--"Tom Hayden, husband to Jane Fonda and former Chicago Seven, tells Lou he switched from 'radical' to joining her 'establishment.'". That is bullshit stuff! Jane Fonda was not "establishment" in any way. Jane Fonda was a radical and freak, as she is today, and she was a supporter of communists, such as the rulers of China. And that is some of the crap that was put on The Lou Gordon Program years ago. By the way, Lou Gordon was crap!
The crap just keeps on coming! On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, the Detroit Free Press published an article entitled "Jones to be first Black female leader of a cable news network" ["Jones to be first Black female leader of a cable news network." Detroit Free Press, 9 December 2020, p. 9B.]. Hold it! I have said for some time that, the more women have become involved in controling news, the worse the news industry has become. The article is about a black woman named Rashinda Jones, who is to be the next president of MSNBC, the communistic news entity. Here is a portion of the article--"...Jones, who has been leading breaking news and major events, guided coverage of stories such as the pandemic and President Donald Trump's impeachment while overseeing presidental debates and other major live programming....". Hold it! I state that the "impeachment" thing was all crap and lies and that MSNBC helped push the lieas! Yes, a piece of shit--Rashina Jones, who pushed along the impeachment crap--gets to be a president of a cable news entity.
This section focuses on television and a related matter. Over the past month or so--while watching football games on television--I was exposed a number of times to an advertisment from Amazon (a socialistic entity) that featured a woman named Shanika H. (an "Amazon Future Engineer"), and she was another angry black woman. The opening line of the commercial was--"Students of color and students that identify themselves as female typically do not have access to high quality computer science and STEM education.". Such bullshit that statement is. First, the "students that identify themselves as female" is first-degree bullshit. There is a female and there is a "male", and the idea about "identifying" as somethat that they are not is crap. Second, I report that fewer women are in STEM than men are because the brains of women are different than the brains of men are--how the brains work and what jobs the brains have developed over centuries to do things. And what proof does Shanika H. have that the lack of women in STEM relates to lack of access? Shanika H. does not come off as a leader; she comes off as just another angry black woman, an activitist pushing crap, and there is ugliness showing. Here is the related matter. On Sunday, December 27, 2020, I was listening to the "Christmas Station" in the Detroit area of Michigan (a.k.a. WNIC-FM) on the Internet while I was away from the Detroit area, and I heard a commercial from Citi bank, and the topic urged me to go to the webpage that was promoted in the commercial--"city.com/racialequality". The page had this heading--"Action for Racial Equality". And under the heading was this text--"We are combining the talent and capabilities of our institution like never before to help close the racial wealth gap and increase economic mobility in the U.S.". That is shit! I urge you not to invest any money in an institution associated with Citi. It seems your money will be used for socialistic bullshit. For instance, money that could go to your getting a higher return on your money (investment) will go to crap use. The history of banks is that banks take in money so that it can be loaned out for others to use, such as to build houses, and the banks make a little money for doing banking things (being like distributing points), and people who have their money in banks for use by other people get "interest" (earnings) for loaning out their money to the banks for others. When banks get involved is deciding "economic mobility," you have crap! Is somebody going to get free money or easy money from Citi, while you get less. How can Citi "close the wealth gap"? Some people do not want to work for stuff and earn money, so the people do not get anywhere, and some people, such as some blacks, did not want to learn English and learn to read well (which they considered "whitey" stuff), and so they keep themselves in crap. And so goes life!
[Note: A some dummies spend money on marijuana and alcohol and lottery tickets, and so they are hurting for money, and so goes life.]So, the Rose Parade did not take place on January 1, 2021, so, for instance, ABC-TV and NBC-TV had packaged stuff from the Rose Parade company and new stuff, and, for example, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker were the hosts (in a studio) for the NBC-TV program. I happened to catch bits of both programs while cleaning a bathroom, and I happened to catch twice the Sheryl Crow bit in which she asked people to donate to a food entity (because--in her mind--there is terrible hunger all over the country). Sheryl Crow is a big supporter of socialists and communists, and she just happened to sing her former hit tune that opens up with the line--"My friend the communist.". Such shit Sheryl Crow is, and she gets to be on television!
Here is more crap, and it is tied to TV Guide, and I am here to fight for the real Perry Mason. The issue of the magazine for December 21, 2020/January 3, 2021 had Mayim Bialik (a big-supporter of the Democrat Party) on the cover. On page 7, there was a portion that covered--and worked to promote--Perry Mason (a cable show that has been on the air a short while). Look the text that was written by Matt Roush that is shown--"...As someone who still indulges in the occasional soothing late-night return of the original Raymond Burr series, I understand why some objected to HBO's gritty revisionist orginal story of Erle Stanley Gardner's fabled fictional lawyer. Far from the crisply infallible legal eagle of yore, this Perry is a disheveled and boozy mess, imbused with a pugnacious film-noir fatalism by The Americans' Matthew Rhys (right) in a star turn more evocative of Humphrey Bogart. Though set in the 1930s, the new and more graphic Perry Mason has decidedly modern attitudes toward women--Della Street (Juliet Rylance) is a street-smart lesbian who's nobody's girl Friday--and race: Investigator Paul Drake (Chris Chlak) is a Black LAPD cop fed up with departmental prejudice. As Perry evolves into a green but impassioned advocate for justice, I can't wait to witness his next case.". I have not seen the new Perry Mason series, and I watch the old Perry Mason show on MeTV almost every weekday, starting at 11:30 p.m. (Detroit time). Based on what I knew about the new series before it showed up on HBO and what I later learned, I would never watch the new Perry Mason, a program made by people who have corrupted the Perry Mason idea to make money and to push socialistic political shit! Given the only connection between the new Perry Mason and the old Perry Mason are the names of main characters, the new series should never have been made with any tie in with the old television series and radio series and stories. The makers of the new series should have made their own thing--their own series, with freaks and lesbians and whatever they wanted and such. They stole, in essence, only names of what had come before so that they could get current people to watch their shit (it was underhanded to get people to watch what was not Perry Mason and watch shit that would not get as much attention otherwise)! Incidentally, I guess the attitudes of today's woman is to be a lesbian, based on Matt Roush's crappy thinking, and I do not want see another angry black activist male pushing racial junk on a fictional television series, especially Perry Mason. Skip the new fake Perry Mason.
Oh, the above paragraph ties in with the new Doctor for Doctor Who. I say that the Doctor was created back around 1963 as a guy, and it should have stayed that way. The production team of the new version of Doctor Who with the gal should have made a completely different series, which could feature a female Time Lord (a spin-off). But, no, they wanted to push political shit and make money off of something that had not been about pushing socialism and feminist shit!
Another ugly television series returned to NBC-TV since I published the previous edition of Television History and Trivia. On January 5, 2021, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist showed up again, airing at 8:00 p.m. weekly. It was an episode to make a good person gag, having icky conversations and idiot thinking, and none of the characters--shallow people--would I want to have in my living room, and the "George" character made me turn off the television set. Who wants to see such crap and freaks after a day of work or whatever?
Announcement for the novice again (reworked in March 2019): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, try Breitbart News Network (the history of which goes back to 2007), WorldNetDaily.com, Newsmax TV (which was started up in 2014), CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), and One America News Network (a.k.a. OAN), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama-type people (communists, socialists, progressives, liberals, and Shariaists), as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned). I note that Fox News Channel is evolving into a rotten channel, becoming like those that I have put down in this paragraph. If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and even now much of what is on the Fox News Channel and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you. In 2019, "The Drudge Report" was sold, and it should be treated as suspect for now. [Note: Everyone in the Democratic Party in the country is rotten, and the Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people tied to the Republican Party are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]
In November 2020, a silvery monolith appeared in a deserted area of Utah, and people saw images of it on television and on the Internet, and people thought of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, and I thought it was a bunch of crap. Then more monoliths appeared, such as in December 2020, and the monolith of Utah disappeared. By the way, while this was happening, I was thinking about how science-fiction movies and television series are mostly nutty in relation to aliens, and I thought a bit about my science-fiction adventure book called Sheila Lake and the Universal Explorers, which was published in 1992. On December 9, 2020, I got exposed to more science-fiction crap, by firing up my computer and seeing the Yahoo! main page. There was a story entitled "Leaked Government Photo Shows 'Motionless, Cube Shaped' UFO" [Daniels, Andrew. "Leaked Government Photo Shows 'Motionless, Cube Shaped' UFO." Esquire, 8 December 8, 2020, 4:40 p.m. EST.]. That reminded me of my days as a boy in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when people were pushing the UFO thing and aliens having visited Earth, and there were magazines at the magazine racks at stores with photographs of so-called alien spacecrafts. Also on December 9, 2020, there was another story on the Yahoo! page, right under the other story, and it was entitled "Aliens exist and Trump almost let it slip, says Israeli professor" [Suliman, Adele, and Paul Goldman (NBC News). "Aliens exist and Trump almost let it slip, says Israeli professor." Yahoo! News, 8 December 2020, 3:29 p.m. EST.]. This story had a guy named Haim Eshed saying, for example, there is an underground base on Mars. Both stories were and are useless news! No aliens have visited the planet and care about the planet. For one, there are millions and millions and millions of cameras all over the world, and no one in one-hundred years has come up with a good and clear photograph of an alien or an alien spacecraft. If an alien or alien spacecraft had ever showed up, it would have been documented by now. It is not possible for aliens--over a one-hundred-year period--to get away with not being undetected clearly or caught well on camera. Do not give me that crap about "cloaking devices." That is illogical! Plus, if there were "cloaking devices," then why are there any--any--images of so-called alien spacecraft (in fuzzy form always), especially from the 1950s period, when the Star Trek franchise did not yet exist to push forth the science-fiction term known as "cloaking devices." The first story that I talked about noted that there was an object seen by a pilot over the Atlantic Ocean (the East Coast of the United States of America) in 2018. The photograph was not so great. There was no way in which to detect the size of the object, given the background was sky. When I saw the photograph, I remembered how it has been documented that tornadoes and such can lift objects up in to the air and carry them away, and the objects end up falling out of the sky many miles away or many, many, many miles away (and days later). And that reminded me of an incident of my boyhood days in Inkster, Michigan, in the 1960s. One day, a friend of mine and I were playing with plastic guy (a soldier) connected to a parachute, and the guy was about five-inches long. At one point, I threw my guy up in to the air (we were in the front-yard area of 295 Biltmore, Inkster, Michigan). I expected the guy to come down. What happened is, the guy with the parachute keep going up, and he began to head toward Cherry Hill Road, going sort of northeast. We took up the chase. And we ran. The guy was going and going, and, finally, we lost him. Somewhere, he landed, maybe in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, or Dearborn, Michigan, or Detroit, Michigan. I think the object that the pilot saw in 2018 was just another piece of mass, maybe junk, that had gotten up in the air, though it could have been a piece of a satellite that had come through the atmosphere and stayed aloft. The alien theme is crap, or the two Yahoo! stories were just more yahoo. I say that, generally speaking, science-fiction movies and television shows push illogical thoughts about aliens, such as the idea that aliens are going to show up and ask to meet with the leaders (the politicians)--there is that nutty line known as "Take me to your leader!"--good aliens will probably know politicians are usually shitty people, being such things as communists and socialists and avoid them for their own safety.
Announcement: Recently, I have added some new documents to the collection of my documents at the website for The Hologlobe Press. One of the documents is entitled A Document that Dispels Myths and Nonsense of Science-Fiction Books, Movies, and Television Shows (A Logic Puzzle), which can be reached through this Myths link. Another document is And So You Think You're Going to the Moon, Mars, or the Stars..., which can be reached by using this Moon link. And yet another of the documents is entitled And the Stupid Women Shall Lead--and Lead Every Good Individual into Shit, Driven on by Communism, Feminism, and Defective Female Beliefs and Little-Girl Thinking, which can be reached through this Stupid Women link. And here are other documents--A Review of What Television Controlled by Socialists and Communists Worked to Sell as Truth in Relation to the U.S. President Donald J. Trump Impeachment (at Impeachment) and T.H.A.T. Special Edition--The First Helicopter-based Traffic Reporters on Radio for the Detroit area of Michigan (at Helicopter Traffic).
I think I shall talk a little about Detroit television history. The heyday for Detroit television was between June 1947 and about 1981. By the 1970s, the City of Detroit was on a decline, and, for example, in the 1970s, there was a big problem with house fires, and, today, there are many bare areas and vacant lots. Recently, I looked on the Internet to see what was located at 14259 Mack, Detroit. I found--through the ground-level view--that a business called Lakewood Total Service is there or was there recently. The windows of the brick building are, in essence, blocked up, but (in the satellite-related image) I could see there were two vehicles in front of the building, which is near Newport Street. Why did I want to see the location? In the past, I have done research on television shows of the Detroit television stations and what sponsors that they had, and often, I have discovered that, in relation to the sponsors (businesses) who were based in the City of Detroit, their buildings are gone and their locations are bare ground. In relation to 14259 Mack, the sponsor that I was tracking down (at least a bit) was Hanson Chevrolet Company. The best that can be determined is the business existed at 14259 Mack (as a main store) from 1938 to 1961, and, in the 1950s, it had a location at 14601 East Warren, and for a while, the company had a place at 13130 Gratiot Avenue. I know not when the business was started. In 1951--specifically from July 4, 1951, to September 25, 1951--Hanson Chevrolet Company sponsored a weekly program on WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, called Sportsmen's Club. The series ran for 15 minutes each time, and the show had sports experts for viewers for see and hear. The host was Len Stokes. I have found no information about Len Stokes, such as through the Detroit Free Press. Of course, it is very likely that he died years ago. It seems very likely to me that whoever is at 14259 Mack today is aware of Hanson Chevrolet Company and Sportsmen's Club. By the way, around that location is a lot of open space--dead space (in a communistic-socialistic dead city). Oh, Hanson Chevrolet Company did sell Corvettes, and I wonder if any of those Corvettes yet exist, such as as restored vehicles that drive down Woodward Avenue in each August for the Woodward Dream Cruise.
[Note: To get an impression of what I mean by the "bare" areas of Detroit, you can see a video entitled "I drove through the worst parts of Detrroit, Michigan. This is what I saw.", which runs about 21 minutes and was posted by Nick Johnson on YouTube on August 15, 2019, and it shows you what socialism and communism offers in the long run--at dead city. Detroit is a city where people thought they should get something for nothing and where people thought the government should take from others to give to them and where people did not have to work to get something. And they got what they worked for and earned--nothing!]In the early days of Detroit television, some series and shows of the DuMont Television Network (a unit of DuMont Laboratories) were shown in Detroit, such as on WJBK-TV, Channel 2, which was, for a time, an affiliate of CBS-TV and an affiliate of DuMont at the same time, since there were only three television stations in the Detroit area at the time [Note: From 1954 to 1956, CKLW-TV, which went on the air in 1954, did air a few programs from the DuMont TV Network.]. On December 15, 2020, I got exposed to a newly posted video on YouTube, and it was called The DuMont Story, which runs about fourteen minutes. It is a film from the early 1950s, and the YouTube poster had the date of 1953. I am not sure if 1953 is correct. I saw the video, which talked about Allen B. DuMont making the first practical cathode ray tube, which would evolve into many types of tubes that would be used for the picture tubes of television sets in, for example, the 1940s and early 1950s. Back then, "big-screen television" was a tube of fourteen inches and later twenty inches and even thirty inches. DuMont was known for making television cameras, television sets, television transmitters, and other electronic equipment. At the end of the video, this text was shown--"FIRST WITH THE FINEST IN TELEVISION AND ELECTRONICS". That can be deemed as accurate. By the way, one of the first television sets from DuMont was the "Type 180" (which had a picture tube of fourteen inches), and in 1940, the company offered a twenty-inch set called the "Type 195". During the video, I was reminded that the DuMont company had an experimental television station called "W2XVT". And during the video, I reminded myself of articles that I had seen years and years ago about DuMont, such as television reviews in Variety magazine of the 1940s and 1950s, which I had seen while sitting in the Music and Performing Arts area of the main branch of the Detroit Public Library in the 1970s for many hours. The company was good with electronics, but it was not good with making shows as a rule, and one reason for that is much money was going into making good electronic things and not enough money was being put into production budgets of shows, and, for instance, shows that should have used at least two cameras only used one camera (considered one-camera shows), and so the shows could look stagnant and dull. In 1955, the DuMont Television Network was passé, but a Dumont Broadcasting Corporation did have a few sports things for viewers into 1957 (such as the last broadcast tied to Allen B. DuMont, which was a football game between Montclair High School and Bloomfield High School in New Jersey on November 28, 1957, which was won by Montclair High School with a score of 21 to three and which had about 16,000 persons at the game site)*. I have to report that I could not find a showing of The DuMont Story by any Detroit-area television station between 1949 and 1960, but, for instance, I found that the Kiwanis Club of Franklin, Indiana, did show the film to people on Tuesday May 31, 1955, and it seems to me the film was probably distributed to libraries around the country at least and maybe to civic groups, and I did find that KFEQ-TV in Kansas aired the program on October 10, 1954, at 7:00 p.m.. Take a look at The DuMont Story, which focuses on nothing related to entertainment--television shows of the DuMont Television Network.
[* = Officially, the DuMont Television Network was done on Thursday, September 15, 1955, when the company was changed officially from a network to a local operation, having two television stations (WABD-TV, New York, and WTTG-TV, Washington, D.C.). What happened in September 1955 and October 1955 was work was done to dissolve the network company and create a new DuMont Broadcasting Corporation (which got formed officially on October 10, 1955). The last program of the DuMont Television Network (the official network) was a boxing show called Monday Night Boxing (from St. Nicholas Arena, New York), and that program became known as a co-op program after September 15, 1955, and the program was offered in syndication on film for a while. The last entertainment program from the DuMont Television Network was What's the Story, and you can find publications that say that the last air date for the series was September 23, 1955, but the last date for the network was officially September 15, 1955, so the last episode from the network proper was on September 9, 1955, and the show (episode) called What's the Story? for September 23, 1955, was sort of--really--a syndicated show and not a network show and should be considered a syndicated product, and since the show of September 23, 1955, was syndicated, the show was a stand-alone syndicated show officially, but if the show aired on only two stations (WABD-TV and WTTG-TV), it could not even be called syndicated, and it should be considered a shared program of a broadcast group, and, by the way, the show for September 16, 1955, has to be catogorized like that of the show for September 23, 1955.]
[Note: By the way, what can be thought as the first main broadcasting format was the analog broadcasting format, like that done in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s when the DuMont Laboratories was around, but, in essence, that format was two main formats--(1) black-and-white and (2) color (which got started in 1953), but it could be said that the color format was just an enhanced black-and-white format, which allowed black-and-white sets to still display programming broadcast in the color format--the black-and-white television sets could only display the gray scale of a broadcast and not display the color. The second main format is the "digital" format, which has come in three generations. I have to add that, in the days of the development of television in the early 1900s, especially in the 1920s and early 1930s, there were various generations of analog with respect to the number of scanning lines, reaching a peak of 525 lines, which became the official standard approved by the federal government for the country.]I have mentioned that the 2020-2021 prime-time broadcast-network season is the worst in television history because of the types and qualities of series and shows presented, which reguarly push gay and lesbian crap, socialism, and nonsense stories and plots and characters [Note: Have you noticed that every show seems to have one white, one black, one Asian, one gay, one Hispanic, and such, and so the casting looks phoney?]. I really have not seen good ratings information about prime-time broadcasting of the networks since I cancelled my subscriptions to Broadcasting and Cable and Variety a couple decades ago (subscriptions that I had had for twenty or thirty years) because the publications were going to crap (offering fluff). On December 24, 2020, I saw a story on the Internet that talked about ratings of the broadcast networks [Maglio, Tony (The Wrap). "Fox Has Lost 30% of Its Viewers This Season -- and CBS Declines Are Even Worse." msn.com, 24 December 2020.]. Generally speaking, based on the information about ratings from Nielsen, it was noted in the article that Fox had about a 2.1 rating in the fall 2019 and had about a 1.5 rating for the fall of 2020 and that NBC-TV had about a 1.9 rating in the fall of 2019 and had about a 1.3 rating in the fall of 2020. By the way, I remember seeing ratings in the thirties and twenties in the 1970s or so, such as in Variety. It was reported in the article that The CW Network has lost 43 percent of its numbers for the key demographic (youngsters) and has lost 65 percent in total viewers. There is new programming on the broadcast networks, and there has been for months. People have sort of been trapped at home because of COVID-19. Yet--I bet--some people in the profession are saying the ratings are down because of streaming (such as on phones) and because new shows got delayed in starting up new seasons, and the people are thinking it cannot be because of the tone of the shows. I state that the problem is the nature of the shows, which includes the sports shows, which have jackass players pushing socialistic crap--especially the gutter-sounding black guys, of which there are many (who think they are big-deal people). The tone of prime-time is dark and icky and unpleasant almost all the time, and the comedy is not fun, being put-down stuff and sex stuff almost all the time and political (in favor of the socialists and communists and freaks), and when you get done watching many of the shows, you do not feel good. The prime-time shows show off the inner workings of the minds involved in creating the shows, and it is not good.
[Note: For the record, I say that I watch football games, though being a fan to no one or no team, knowing the nature of most of the players falls in the jackass category, and I see much of NCIS (because a friend of mine likes watching it), and, incidentally, while watching football games, I have to point out some of the truly rotten football guys to my friend since she does not keep track of that well, but she does a little, and we both sort of root for the team in a particular game that seems to have the fewest jackasses and screw-ups.]And I have this final note of history. In the fall of 1964, the modern made-for-TV movie (or "TV movie") began to come to the television screen, and NBC-TV led the way, and between 1964 and the fall of 1968, there were not a lot of made-for-TV movies presented on network television, and NBC-TV was leading the way. In November 1968, NBC-TV was plugging hard that it was going to air a new movie about a famous fictional character called "Heidi" that was entitled Heidi on November 17, 1968, beginnnig at 7:00 p.m. (Eastern time). The program aired before the movie would be a football game between the New York Jets and the Oakland Raiders. At 7:00 p.m., when little time was left on the game clock for the football game, NBC-TV switched out of the game, which then had the New York Jets winning by a score of 32 to 29, to show Heidi (something that could be considered a big-budget TV movie), which featured such performers as Maximilian Schell, Jean Simmons, and Walter Slezak. What people would learn later is the football game was won by the Oakland Raiders by a score of 42 to 32 in a wild two-minutes (less really) ending for the game. The event ended up in television history being called the "Heidi incident" and other names. By the way, around Sunday, November 24, 1968, CKLW-TV, Channel 9, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, was planning to air a movie called The Breaking Point (which was a 1950 movie featuring John Garfield and Patrick Neal) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 1968, but, at the last minute (of sorts), the presentation for that time slot--beginning at 7:30 p.m.--was changed to a showing of Heidi (the 1937 movie that featured Shirley Temple). So Heidi cancelled a portion of a football game on November 17, 1968, and then Heidi cancelled out a movie on CKLW-TV on November 25, 1968. Now, I have to jump ahead in time to Saturday, January 2, 2021. In the afternoon of that day, a college football game--the "Outback Bowl"--began to run on ABC-TV--especially, in relation to me, the ABC-TV affiliate in northern Lower Michigan--and during a part of the first half, I sort of was listening to the game while I was doing television research, piecing together air-date history of a television show on WTVS-TV in Detroit called It's Your Turn. In the half-time for the game, I tappered off my tracking work on the show or I put the tracking work on hiatus, and I began to watch the game. While the game was going on, the television station airing the game--I was not watching through a cable service or the like--several times started up a block of local commercials at the wrong times, or at non-real breaks in the game (such as at time-out times), the station kicked into airing local commercials, and it did it several times. In fact, it happened at least three times, and it was probably more. One of the last breaks for the local commercials that should not have showed up showed up a little before 4:00 p.m.. Then the station was back to running the game for a very short while. Then, at about the top of the hour--the nearly the start of the 4:00 p.m. hour (Eastern time)--the station took another break (a top-of-the-hour break), and the game was still playing, and there was slightly more than a minute to go in the game, and the score was 26 for Ole Miss and 20 for Indiana. Right at the top of the hour, the television station began to run a syndicated show for the 4:00 p.m. hour, an episode of Major Crimes (which had been originally shown on cable as part of a television series made for cable). And the episode kept playing for a few minutes, and then a graphics-like thing showed up, and it was a color-bar presentation, which, for one, noted that the feed was from ABC in New York and in high definition, and it was "Source 2200". And that was that. I turned off the television set, since I was about to make a planned trip to town--to the grocery store. I did not search for the score, such as through a newscast, in the next five hours or more, not really caring and busy seeing presentations on MeTV, such as MeTV Cartoon Kick-Off Show (the second show) and Svengoolie. I did not learn the score of the game till Sunday, January 3, 2020, in the morning, and the score was 26 to 20 (so nothing happened and I missed nothing). But on Saturday, January 2, 2021, the television station for ABC-TV in the 7&4 Group did a Heidi-type thing.
[Note: I report that another Heidi-type incident took place on Sunday, February 4 1979, at 7:00 p.m., when CBS-TV for the Eastern and Central time zones jumped from a golf game and to a showing of an episode of 60 Minutes, which was to be followed by a showing of the movie entitled Rocky.]
Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.
Stay well!Vic
P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link. I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man." For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Chris Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President. I note that the "mandate"--which forces everyone to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is attacked in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often and usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
