Hey, within the last month, I have regularly watched Svengoolie on MeTV, and one of the movies that I saw was Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Hold it! Let me interrupt here. I like the body style of such females as Emma Samms, Ema Hayasaka, and Salma Hayek, but I do have to note that Salma Hayek has a screwed-up mind, based on what she supports in relation to politics. When I saw the movie entitled Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, I sort of had my standards changed a bit. The gal who was the fifty-foot woman was a cutie. Consider the facts--here is a gal with nice hair. Here is a gal with a nice shape. The gal probably had measurements that were 38, 25, 37. I know not the real numbers. But my guess is 38, 25, 37. And remember--Those measurements are in feet. Okay, that is a joke, which opens this edition of Television History and Trivia. And really the focus of this opening segment of Television History and Trivia is a regular segment called Looking at the Movies, which is like an umbrella title for movies shown on television, the heyday of which was between 1946 and about 1990. It is very rare when movies shown on television today exist under an umbrella title. Svengoolie is sort of an umbrella title. Years ago, the broadcast networks used such umbrella titles as Tuesday Movie of the Week, NBC Saturday Night at the Movies, and The CBS Friday Night Movie. I report again that I use Looking at the Movies in edition of T.H.A.T. to showcase movies that were shown by Detroit-area television stations in the early days of Detroit television, especially between 1947 and 1953 when considering WJBK-TV (Channel 2), WWJ-TV (Channel 4), and WXYZ-TV (Channel 7), and I extent the period out to later in the 1950s when I consider CKLW-TV (Channel 9), which was not on the air between 1947 and 1953 [Note: Channel 9 existed in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and across the Detroit River from Detroit.]. At the moment, I do not know when a real umbrella title was used for the first time for a movie shown on Detroit television. I do know that television listings in The Detroit News used Crime Club Feature Film in 1947 a couple times. When I originally came across Crime Club Feature Film, I was unaware whether it was something created by the newspaper or the television station to which it was associated, which was WWJ-TV. I did some research and found the title was not a real umbrella title, and I found the title referred to sort of an umbrella title used on eight films put in movie theaters in the 1937-to-1939 period. In fact, at the open of such a movie, viewers saw--"A Crime Club Production". Then, the title of the movie was shown on the screen. There were eight films in the film series, but at the moment, I only know that three were aired on WWJ-TV in 1947, and one of the movies was the first in the series, which came from Universal Pictures, and it was "The Westland Case", which featured Preston Foster as one of the performers, and that movie was shown by WWJ-TV on November 20, 1947. On November 5, 1947, Channel 4 gave viewers "The Lady in the Morgue" (a 1938 film), and on November 13, 1947, Channel 4 put out "Danger on the Air" for Detroit-area television viewers. "Danger on the Air" is the presentation for this edition of Looking at the Movies. The main performers in the movie were Nan Grey and Donald Woods. Nan Grey looked cute in a dress; she wore several in the movie. The setting for the movie was a radio station, WGAB [Note: Think "w"-"gab".]. Air--maybe hot air--was used to kill a big-deal sponsor, Mr. Kluck. Instead of having police try to solve the case, an announcer/engineer (played by Donald Woods) worked to solve the crime. Several of the actors in the movie were familiar to me. One was Peter Lind Hayes, though he was only listed "Lind Hayes" on the credits; for one, Peter Lind Hayes was famous for being on network television shows in the 1950s, and he often appeared with his wife, Mary Healy. Another performer that I recognized was Lee J. Cobb, who played a janitor [Note: Lee J. Cobb had a long career acting in television shows and movies.]. So, pretend it is 9:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 13, 2019, I see what danger is tied to the media in "Danger on the Air".
Announcement for the novice again (reworked in May 2017): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama-type people (communists and Shariaists), as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned). I note that Fox News Channel is evolving into a rotten channel, becoming like those that I have put down in this paragraph. If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and even now much of what is on the Fox News Channel and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you. [Note: Everyone in the Democratic Party in the country is rotten, and the Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]
On June 10, 2019, Rush Limbaugh--through his nationally syndicated radio show (The Rush Limbaugh Program--reminded me of a past television special broadcast by ABC-TV on June 2, 2009, which was hosted by a so-called journalist named Bob Woodruff, and, actually, Rush Limbaugh reminded me of a promotional announcement about the actual program, which was entitled Earth 2100 and was used in a two-hour block of prime time. Later in the day, I went looking for an old promotional announcement for the show and for the show, and I found through YouTube a promotional announcement (which ran one minute and thirty-two seconds and was listed as "ABC News Earth 2011 Show Trailer") and the show (which was rated at one hour, twenty-three minutes, and 22 seconds, since commercials were not offered in the video file). Both showed off the rottenness of the people involved in the so-called news show. I report that both were propaganda pieces pushed along by socialists and communists; for example, within the first few minutes of the actual show, viewers were offered such communists on the screen as Van Jones (the founder of Green For All) and John Podesta (of the Center for American Progress, a highly communistic entity). Basically, Earth 2100 was a prediction piece and a fiction piece and a tug-at-the-emotions piece, and it was not a news show, though it was put together by a news organization, and the show was a clear example of fake news. A person seeing the program in 2019 or in the future will see the program was a scam and a sham, since things predicted in it have not come about. By the way, this section of this edition of T.H.A.T. would have fit well in my document informally called Countdown to the End of the World, which can be reached through this Countdown link. I saw the promotional announcement first, and it started out with a series of text pieces shown one at a time on the screen with various images--"Rome Fell", "Maya Civilization Disappears", "Easter Island Collapsed", and "Are We Next?". And there were other text pieces scattered within the remainder of the promotional announcement. Also scattered about the promotional announcement were statements from people (statements which I assumed would be shown in the actual program), such as "We're running out of oil, we're running out of water, we're running out of atmosphere, we're poisoning the whole planet." and "We have a chance to get it right. We have a chance to move in the right direction--now. I don't think that window of opportunity is gonna be open very long." and "One can hope that suddenly society will realize that it's on a doomsday path and change very rapidly.". The promotional announcement had only fluff imaginings for the most part and emotional ranting, such as from a boy who said--"I'm, I'm scared as hell right now but I have to get this out."; the material related to the boy did not hint at what he was afraid, and the show did not pass along facts that would show a reason to be fearful. The final piece of spoken text in the promotional announcement was--"If we continue on the business-as-usual trajectory, there will be a tipping point that we cannot avert. We will indeed drive the car over the cliff.". It was all hype and no substance! Then, I fired up the actual television program. The first words from Bob Woodward were--"The idea that within this century, perhaps in your lifetime, our civilization could lie in ruins seems unbelievable. But according to some of the world's leading minds, that's not just a worst-case scenario. It's a real possibility. Good evening. I'm Bob Woodruff. Over the next two hours, we'll take you on a journey into a world that could await us and our children. Three-hundred-seventy-thousand babies will be born today, and we've taken the liberty of creating one more, a fictional character we're calling Lucy, who will be our guide through the century. Her life story is not a prediction about will happen but what might happen.". In the first eight minutes of the show, the show pushed out such persons--I guess members of the group of so-called "world's leading minds"--as John Podesta, Jared Diamond, Thomas Homer Dixon, Peter Gleick, Van Jones, Terry Root, and Janine Benyus [Note: There would be more later in the program.]. Yes, the viewer is supposed to accept--without getting backing proof--that the individuals are great thinkers. Terry Root (of the Woods Institute for the Environment) said such nonsense as "Flowers are blooming earlier, and trees are leafing earlier. Birds are coming back from migration much earlier.". There was a little segment about 2014, and it noted that millions of dragonflies showed up in Miami, Florida, and, to me, that went nowhere, given, for the last sixty years of my life, I have seen dragonflies in Michigan and, over the last ten years, while staying at a place along Lake Huron, I have seen many dragonflies, and I often name each of them "Huey" (after the Huey helicopter) and urge them on to get and eat the black flies and misquotes (for my benefit). Around the time that the show seemed to push out the idea that is was set in 2015, the viewer was given the idea that the price of oil could double or triple. It was only prediction. Exactly, a lot of time was spent on predictions for 2015, and, today, they all look like nonsense at the very least. For example, it was pushed that the oil is getting "harder and more expensive to find", and people are finding suburbs "less desirable" for living because of the price of gasoline, and there are protests about the rising cost of food based on rising gas prices, and a hurricane called "Linda" destroys Miami, and there is a note about wheat shortages in China that are leading to riots (and it is tied in with an "endless drought"). At this point, a man named Ed Wilson (a biologist at Harvard University, the communistic university) states--"This is the first time the whole planet is in that kind of a crisis. And the whole planet has to, ah, join in meeting a, uhm, a crisis of epochal proportion.". The segment with Ed Wilson came off as something that the producers wanted viewers to believe was fact and true, though it was a guess. A very short time was spent on 2016, and then the show jumped to 2030. I note--The time covered from 2009 to 2016 had no predictions that came true or even close to true, as can be seen today (in 2019), and the farther you go out in time, the less likely the predictions in the show will mean anything since the prediction models have already been shown to be crap. I stopped watching the program at the start of the 2030 point; anyway, the program had given me people known to be socialists and communists, who are not trustworthy people--they are enslavists--and people who are not real scientists. The program called Earth 2100 with a bunch of predictions can be seen today as nothing more than fake news from a national news entity, and the program has no value and should be blown up.
[Note: On June 11, 2109, I did a little research about some of the entities that had input into the program called Earth 2100, and I only had to do research on the few to prove the point that is the theme of this paragraph. The Center for American Progress still exists, and it is nothing more than a communistic pressure group, and at the website for the entity, I found such headlines as "Large Western Wildfires on the Rise", "Shifting Tornado Zones", "Annual Rainfall Increasing in Most U.S. States," "The Time is Right for a Deal with North Korea", "Ending Special Tax Treatment for the Very Rich", and "Eliminating Racial Disparities in Maternal and Infant Morality", and the headlines show the entity is not a scientific entity that has any useful data to pass along about the climate or proof that man is killing the planet. The website for the Pacific Institute had this statement under "Vision" for the entity--"The Pacific Institute envisions a world in which society, the economy, and the environment have the water they need to thrive now and in the future". I state--No water has disappeared from the planet in the last one-hundred years because of man doing things! What is the Pacific Institute talking about? The world has water! What is the Pacific Institute going to do to make sure there is water or more water--Is it going to make new water? Green For All, which was founded by black racist Van Jones, has this statement about what it is on the website that it has--"We advance solutions that bring clean energy, green jobs, and opportunities to the poorest, and most polluted communities in the country.". I say in jest--It sounds great. The entity has a lot of women in management roles, especially in association with something called the "Dream Corp" (as noted in a 10th annual report), and the chief executive officer of the Dream Corps is Vien Troung, and it was stated in the report in relation to the woman--"Vien Leads the Dream Corps, a national organization working to close prison doors and open doors of opportunity.". It is not an entity that focuses on real climate research! Why would a climate-research entity be involved in doing things about prisons, such as work to close prisons? Green For All is a group of rotten people, pushing political crap associated with socialism and communism, which are very bad political systems. And the 10th annual report for Green For All had this statement (quoted material) from Van Jones--"We want to ensure that these communities that are locked out of the last century's pollution-based economy will be locked into the new clean and green economy. Green For All knows we don't have any throwaway children or neighborhoods either. All of creation is precious and sacred. And we are all in this together.". The material from Van Jones is idiocy and bullshit! Consider--Van Jones is trying to push the idea that there are communities that got locked out of succeeding in the previous century because the country used oil and gas and coal. Van Jones had no reason to be involved with Earth 2100, unless the program was a political piece of trash and a propaganda piece right from the start. It was--in the time of Barack Hussein Obama, a rotten U.S. president, in love with Sharia and communism and freakiness.

On June 12, 2019, I watched a video on YouTube entitled "What RUINED Hanna-Barbera?". The video was about the team of Joseph Barbera and William Hanna, who, in relation to television, were big in the cartoon business in the last half of the 1900s, beginning with Ruff and Ready in the 1950s. Hanna-Barbera was the name for an animation studio headed by the two men (though it had another name at the beginning), and the video passed along reasons Hanna-Barbera disappeared. I think the video missed at least one big reason why Hanna-Barbera disappeared (ultimately becoming a part of Warner Bros. Television). And, actually, the video was vague about the reasons the company disappeared--it did note how the company began to have fewer hit shows in the later years, when, basically, it only had cable networks as distribution points. When cable television was coming to power in the 1980s, such as with the creation of more channels, more and more people were sort of abandoning regular broadcast television, which had served Hanna-Barbera well over the years as places for their shows. But the maker of the video--identified as "Saberspark"--did not report how broadcast television stations from the 1980s to 2015 (for example) did things to make it harder for companies with cartoon shows for syndication to find spots in which to air their shows; for example, there was a rise in television stations playing double runs of, for example, syndicated one-hour talk shows in a day, which ate up broadcast time on a station [Note: One reason for the double runs is a station had to get enough viewer numbers tied to the talk show, which were expensive to buy, to show advertisers the shows were worth buying), and off-network shows in syndication cost a lot of money, so, on weekdays, it became commonplace for a station to play ten episodes each week [Note: In Detroit, today, a particular series may get double runs on a station own by the operator of the station and even get seen on two stations owned by the operator.]. Plus, some television stations from the 1980s to 2015 increased their amount of time used for useless news blocks, where a small group of stories were repeated over and over, and there was useless traffic information, and a lot of weather coverage filled in an hour. Also, such as in Detroit, television stations were spending a lot of money on news anchors to get ratings, and that reduced money that was available for other programs. Of course, because of the rise of the number of cable channels, television stations were losing viewers--the marketplace was getting spread out over more and more entities day upon day. But there was another cause of the falling away of Hanna-Barbera that no one talks about. Since the 1980s, the tone and design of television cartoons and television cartoon characters have become less likeable. Yes, little boys (at least) tuned into the new waves and styles of cartoons done by a number of companies, one of which was Hanna-Barbera, and in the ever spreading out marketplace, some shows could even become called hits. Cartoon characters, though, were becoming less likeable and cute, and even characters that were based on old characters were slightly redesigned in styles that were not cute and nice, and characters were very likely to be crass in personality and sharp-edged in style (even cubic-like in design) and weird, and some characters, such as those on The Simpsons, were given personas that were considered bad examples for children, leading parents to not permit their children to watch the cartoons (though The Simpsons has been a hit for years and years). Between the 1980s and 2015, Hanna-Barbera took up following the style that was being pushed in the marketplace by other cartoon makers, and the style was not like what the old animators had done. I contend the generation of animators took over for the older generations, such as William Hanna and William Barbera, lacked likeableness in their personas and in their minds; for example, almost everything that Seth McFarland, who was one of the new people taken on at Hanna-Barbera, has done nothing that is likeable in cartoons for television--he lacks the mental ability [Note: Seth McFarland is a supporter of socialism and socialists and even communists, such as Barack Hussein Obama.]. The new cartoon people seem to not have the ability to be nice as a rule. By the way, each week, I see the cartoon supplement for the Sunday edition of the Detroit Free Press, and, basically, the pages have ugly characters or weird characters or unlikeable characters, and there is little fun in the supplement [Note: Actually, I do not look at the supplement or really read the cartoons, since there is nothing fun in it--I can simply see it, and I am turned off.]. I report that what has happened with the cartoon industry has happened with the whole television industry, such as for prime time on the broadcast networks. The people who have been in control of making shows or getting show made from at least the 1980s to today lack the ability to make nice. I can report that there is no nice show--fun-for-the-sake-of-fun show--on the broadcast television networks today. However, I note that the drama called NCIS has fun moments, but the series is really a drama show for adults. Hanna-Barbera and the cartoon industry drifted away from fun, and the audience ended up with the angry looking and snide and unlikeable characters in many shows spread out over more channels (except broadcast channels), so that turned off parents and children. By the way, when I am in the Detroit area, I can see the broadcast edition of the Qubo network, and there is little to see there [Note: The network was more fun when it first showed up.]. When the new generations took over from Mr. Hanna and Mr. Barbera, the style of the company changed (as did the television industry), and viewers--good people--were turned off, but, of course, some shows still became known hits. There are always going to be things considered hits in all periods of television history. Hanna-Barbera became like other companies, offering nothing nice and fun to make it stand out. [Note: I could argue that unpleasant and unlikeable people took over the cartoon industry, even at Hanna-Barbera.]
On Sunday, July 7, 2019, the U.S. women's soccer team won the FIFA Women's World Cup, and some of the winners--at least--are rotten women. For instance, during the celebration of the win, Alexandra "Allie" Long put the American flag on the ground. Days earlier, on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, Megan Rapinoe, who is a feminist and lesbian, pushed forth in an interview with ESPN--"...I think that this country was founded on a lot of great idea, but it was also founded on slavery....". The thought about "slavery" is high-level bullshit from a freak. Yes, if you watched the champion ship soccer games on television for women or whatever they call themselves, you saw some crappy U.S. people.
Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.
Stay well!Vic
P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link. I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man." For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Chris Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President. I note that the "mandate"--which forces everyone to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is attacked in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often and usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
