Commercial television has been around in the United States of America since 1940, and in Detroit, commercial television has been around since June 1947 (the first commercial television station was WWJ-TV, which is now WDIV-TV, Channel 4). I wish I could see--really--what all the live television shows produced in Detroit looked like since 1947, especially those of the 1940s and early 1950s. For example, I would like to see if the on-air people of the 1940s and early 1950s were as stupid and shallow as the people on television of today are. The people of the 1940s and 1950s were as a rule not as pretty or handsome as the people of today as a rule, and that was because many of the people of the 1940s or 1950s came to television from radio or newspapers where looks were not important--they could look like average people, but then, the women did wear dresses as a rule. Okay, there were some gals that looked cute, and there was even a gal who was once a Ziegfeld girl (Doris Eaton Travis). In addition, most of the people who got on television in the 1940s or 1950s had been around doing things for a number years or decades before they got on television. By the way, Katherine B. Greene was on television in Detroit around 1956 (that is, she got a show in 1956), but she had been doing things in the Detroit area since the 1920s, and, today, gals just seem to get on television with no real life experience (coming right from or nearly from a broadcast school, for instance). Yes, I would really like to see if the people of the 1940s and 1950s passed along as much crap as the people on television today do. The people of today push a lot of crap or uselessness. Here is another edition of Television History and Trivia, looking at a bit of what television has been since at least 1947.
Let me see what is news in the "sexual harassment" world--in relation to television. During the week of Monday, December 11, 2017, PBS put Tavis Smiley, the show hosted by Tavis Smiley, a man whom I have shown to be a truly rotten man, on hiatus, because allegations of sexual misconduct were being made against Tavis Smiley, a black man, and during the week of Monday, December 11, 2017, Stephen Henderson, a black man, who was known for doing writing work for the Detroit Free Press and for doing television work in the Detroit area (such as on American Black Journal for WTVS-TV, Detroit), was terminated from the Detroit Free Press in relation to allegations of being involved in sexual harassment. In the past, I have shown both men to be rotten persons. I have to add something about Stephen Henderson. Channel 33, WHPR-TV, Detroit, which is a low-power station, has a program called FeedBack, which is hosted by two black racists--Theo Broughton and Thabity Mpenda [Note: I have talked about the program in the past]. On Monday, December 18, 2017, I happened to catch a portion of the program, and there was a guest named Michael Imhotep with the two hosts. Michael Imhotep is another black communist, and during the program, Michael Imhotep, who, for one, is related to The African History Network on facebook.com, said such things as--"...Republicans spend money to suppress our [the "black"] vote around the country...." and "...We ["blacks"] have to take our minds back....". Michael Imhotep, who acts like and looks a Barack Obama, passed along crap. Also during the program, Malik Shabazz [whom I have talked about in the past] called into the television program, and one thing that Malik Shabazz passed along was that Stephen Henderson (on that day) was still working on his radio program for WDET-FM, Detroit, which is a public-broadcasting-type radio station and which is tied to Wayne State University, and Malik Shabazz passed along the idea that Stephen Henderson earns $90,000 from working at WDET-TV. That information about $90,000 may or may not be true. It is commonplace for Malik Shabazz to passed along and teach idiocy to television viewers. If the information about the $90,000 is true, then I say that the pay for Stephen Henderson is way out of line, given the radio station is only a public-broadcasting-type station tied to a big-name university and is not a commercial radio station. If the information is true about the $90,000, why is Wayne State University paying such a high fee? By the way, I got the impression Malik Shabazz is not a fan of Stephen Henderson's.
To me, it is hard to find and see "pleasant" women on television. There are so-called "beauties" on television, but most have a defective personas, often coming off as angry and like socialists/feminists. A good example of an unpleasant woman is Megyn Kelly, who is the featured attraction of Megyn Kelly TODAY, which is seen on NBC-TV-affiliated stations on weekdays. Megyn Kelly is at least a socialist, who is a bad person. Oh, on December 6, 2017, I happened to tune into Megyn Kelly TODAY when the show had a number of women talking about sexual harassment, and one of the women was the rotten Alyssa Milano (a supporter of socialists and communists). The segment came off as phony to me and as a political piece. It was a moment of ugly television.
In Detroit, the NBC-TV affiliate is WDIV-HD, and that station broadcasts three signals over the air--Channel 4.1 (which is the station proper), Channel 4.2 (which has the this network), and Channel 4.3. (which has the MeTV network). On Sunday, December 17, 2017, I happened to catch a promotional announcement for the news department on 4.3 (it was at about 9:15 a.m.), and the promotional announcement focused on Kimberly Gill. Here is an aside--Most people in the main news media, such as in television news or at newspapers, are "liberal" (or communists or socialists), and that is a fact, which has been shown in surveys that I have seen over the years and which can been seen by noting the product put forth to Americans in news stories each day. At one point during the promotional announcement, Kimberly Gill said (in relation to getting into the television news anchor business)--"I thought television news people were so smart so why not get into television journalism.". I say--Such defective logic and thought her statement is. A good and smart person does not take up promoting or following the ways of socialism and communism, because socialism and communism--political systems--are rotten. There is defectiveness in the mind of Kimberly Gill, and yet she is an news anchor at a major television station in the country.
While speaking about ugly persons on television, let me bring up a man. On Monday, December 12, 2017, Jimmy Kimmel went into another of his political speeches on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Remember--Jimmy Kimmel is a supporter of the Democratic Party in the United States of America, which is a communistic/socialistic political party--a rotten political party. Jimmy Kimmel brought out the idea that it is "disgusting" that the U.S. Congress--Jimmy Kimmel really means "Republicans"--are more concerned with giving tax cuts to millionaires than giving help to children (those with serious health problems). Keep in mind--Jimmy Kimmel's son (who was born earlier this year) has a heart defect. It seems Jimmy Kimmel makes around $10-million for hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live, and he probably makes other money doing things, and by now, he should have investments making him additional money. Jimmy Kimmel's idea to tie tax cuts to health care for children is rotten--they are not related. It seems to me Jimmy Kimmel just pushed out the old communistic cliché of taxes and the so-called rich. It seems to me Jimmy Kimmel's son, for instance, I getting the best care possible, given how much money Jimmy Kimmel should have, and yet his son's health is leading him on a series of rants related to "Republicans" and health care (though children in the United States of America are getting health care). I have not heard or seen stories over the last number of years noting that children are getting bad care at hospitals! Jimmy Kimmel passed along crap, hoping to push the issue of tax cuts for the so-called rich. Jimmy Kimmel Live is a communistic political piece of television really.
During the week of Monday, December 12, 2017, a big news story was that the Federal Communications Commission (or FCC), which is a unit of the federal government and which is involved in broadcasting and telephone related matters, discontinued the "net-neutrality rules" (related to the Internet) that Barack Hussein Obama (the most-recent former U.S. president) had pushed on to the country. A smart person well understands one reason that the "new-neutrality rules" were put in place by Barack Hussein Obama and his associates in the federal government was so that the federal government could get involved in censoring material on the Internet--if a certain type of website was getting more traffic (hits) than another type in relation to the topic of politics was, the federal government might be able to limit the amount of traffic to the website getting more traffic or direct people away from the website getting more traffic, or if a certain type of website was not providing enough diversity of thought, the federal government could make impositions on the website. Yet, many people thought "net-neutrality rules" were designed to make the Internet more fair, allowing equal access to websites. That was bullshit! Now, I have to make an aside here. People who want "net-neutrality rules" in place are pushing out the idea that the little guys do not get treated fairly when "net-neutrality rules" are not in place, such as by not getting equal network-data speeds as some other people. It has been the way of life for ages that, if you want something better than another thing, you have to pay more. For instance, some cars cost more, because the cars that cost more take more man hours to make or have more features, and some computers cost more because the more-expensive computers do more or can work faster, and some houses cost more than others, and some bicycles cost more than others, and some dresses cost more than others, and some pens cost more than others, and some rings cost more than others, and some houses cost more than others, et cetera. In essence, people who push out the idea that everyone should get equal speeds on the Internet are trying to get better things without paying for the better things, which can involved higher quality routers or data-transportion systems (such as transmission lines). During a week of December 12, 2017, a lot of rotten people pushed out lies about what the end to Barack Hussein Obama's "net-neutrality rules" would mean. For example, on December 14, 2017, Jimmy Kimmel said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! such things as "...Thank you, President Trump. Thanks to you and the jackhole you appointed to run the FCC, big corporations are about to take control of the Internet...." and "...Once net neutrality is gone, we might not even have WebMD anymore, so this is something that you need.....". It was bullshit from Jimmy Kimmel! By the way, before the vote in the FCC on the "net-neutrality rules" would take place, Sandra Fluke--a feminist activist--put forth the idea in a "tweet" on December 13, 2017, that killing the net-neutrality idea would kill access to abortion information for women through the Internet. That is idiocy and a rotten scare tactic! And the Detroit Free Press may have gotten rid of Stephen Henderson, but the newspaper is still loaded with rotten people, such as Nancy Kaffer and John Gallagher. Look at the crap that John Gallagher passed along in an article in the Detroit Free Press for Sunday, December 17, 2017 (Gallagher, John. "Ending net neutrality could stifle some voices." Detroit Free Press, 17 December 2017, pp. 1B and 2B.). For one, John Gallagher tried the net-neutrality idea with deregulation of banking and deregulation of airlines. One piece of crap from John Gallagher was--"...Net neutrality means, in essence, that any information that flows over the Internet must be treated equality. The companies that build the lines that carry the Internet into our homes or offices, companies including Verizon and Comcast, are not allowed to slow down some information they like or charge more to give us access to this or that website...." and "...The danger, at least potentially, is that the Internet, often compared to the Wild West for its open format, now might become more like cable TV, in which some sites are freely available and others more expensive to see or not available at all. Under net neutrality, companies could not block websites they didn't like or with which they compete, or offer some companies faster loading speeds than others....". Hey, when any entity (such as a telephone companies) buys line usage from another entity, the entity buys the line usage based on a minimum speed rate, and if the rate is not met, the entity providing the line usage will lose a customer or have to make reimbursements for not providing the contracted service. That is all that I will say for now about the net-neutrality idea. Much of what communists and socialists, such as John Gallagher, push out is bullshit! Remember--When communists and socialists and Shariaists support something, the something is very likely to be bad, since the people are bad.
Really, the "net-neutrality idea" was pushed into effect by the Barack Hussein Obama people to attain "diversity," and I say that, when the government gets into making sure something related to information is "diverse" (equal), the result is crap. For example, look at the Saturday morning shows on most broadcast channels in the Detroit area--it is a lot of children's stuff often pushing socialism and the lie about manmade climate change. The programs are what the federal government thinks should be fed to children from television. Boy, do I miss the days of the 1950s and 1960s when rotten political crap was not the goal of the makers of programs for children.
For "diversity," maybe the federal government should be forcing television stations to broadcast nice programs (fun for the sake of fun), such as The Amos 'n Andy Show [Note: Take a look at T.H.A.T. #163, which can be reached through this T.H.A.T. #163 link.]
Hey, here is information that your favorite television newscaster probably will not tell you. Communists and socialists are "capitalists." That is, communists and socialists work to get money and become rich! However, communists and socialists work to get rich at the expense of others, and they work to keep others from getting as much as they get so that the communists and socialists can be seen as higher in stature in society than others. History shows--that is, even modern history shows--communists and socialists in countries block citizens from getting well off, such as rich, through laws, while the communists and socialists amass riches or great fortunes, and some examples are the leaders of Russia (such as Vladimir Putin), the leaders of China, the leaders of North Korea, the leaders of Cuba, leaders of Venezuela, and even Barack Hussein Obama. "Capitalism" is not a political system--it is economics. "Communistic capitalism" and "socialistic capitalism" are systems in which the government well controls how money is made and how much can be kept by those who make money. In the United States of America, the "Democratic Party" is a political party based on communism and socialism, and often people of the Democratic Party wishing to hide the idea that they support communism and socialism call themselves "progressives" (instead of communists or socialists). "Progressives" are actually socialists or communists (by the way, a communist is just a meaner and more deadly socialist). On Saturday, December 16, 2017, I was watching a broadcast on NBC-TV of a professional football game between the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears, and at one point, a local commercial for Shri Thanedar showed up on the screen. Shri Thanedar--a "Democrat"--is working to be the next governor of the State of Michigan. For months, Shri Thanedar has been selling himself as a "scientist" and a "entrepreneur," and to me, that means he is trying to push down the idea that he is a communist and a socialist and is trying to suggest he is a good guy. During the advertisement, Shri Thanedar noted that he was currently the "most progressive" person running to be the next governor for the State of Michigan. A good person can determine from "most progressive" that Shri Thanedar is a communist at heart, and even if he had not pushed out the idea of "most progressive" during the advertisement, a good person would be well aware Shri Thanedar is a rotten man, since Shri Thanedar is tied to the Democratic Party. Incidentally, Shri Thanedar was born in India, and in India, some of the people are Muslims and are supporters of Sharia (which is Islamic law, which is a rotten political system, not unlike communism); I do not know if Shri Thanedar also is a Shariaist, given it could not be determined from the advertisement.
I have to talk about--here--an hour in which I saw a lot of idiots and rotten people on Detroit area television--it was during the 10:00 p.m. hour on Thursday, January 4, 2018. I was flipping through the stations, and I came across Tuff TV (a subchannel network), which is broadcast on Channel 14.7. A program was beginning. The show was called Yesterland Waltz starring Justin Michaels. For several minutes, I watched Justin Michaels run off a boring and dead segment. I moved on to other channels. I ended up on Channel. 33.1, which is a channel tied to WHPR-TV. I saw a technical mess. The audio and video was not matched--it was all screwed up. The audio had some guy talking with Nat Morris. In the 1970s and 1980s, Nat Morris was the man who did most of the hosting of the locally produced television dance show entitled The Scene that was broadcast on the black-owned television station called WGPR-TV (Channel 62). I watched or listened to the Nat Morris stuff for a few minutes. I went back to Channel 14.7. Yesterland Waltz starring Justin Michaels--this program I learned was a show that had a host who was showing segments of old movies and television shows. For instance, this edition--which was the first in the series--aired a segment of The Jack Benny Program (which was a television series aired in the 1950s and 1960s) and a portion of an old movie featuring Edgar Kennedy (who was a comedian in, for example, movies of the early 1900s). Justin Michaels' bits were about his wondering why he was hosting this show. Overall, Justin Michaels fell flat, and he actually came off as unlikeable. The idea of having a host show old movie or television clips is okay, but Justin Michaels needs to be replaced. I went back to Channel 33.1 for a few minutes, and then I returned to Channel 14.7. When Yesterland Waltz starring Justin Michaels ended (it only ran 30 minutes), I went back to Channel 33.1, which still had the Nat Morris thing running. I report that Nat Morris came off to me, during his days of hosting The Scene years ago, as a gutter guy. On this day--January 4, 2018--I learn more about Nat Morris. Nat Morris equated "conservatism" with "racism" (white racism, in which "whites" work to keep blacks out of things). Nat Morris noted that "blacks" who are "black conservatives" are people who "make me mad". So, Nat Morris pushed along and taught crap. Nat Morris is one of those black racists--he is a man so stupid that he is unaware that "conservatism" is nothing more than the counter to "socialism" and "communism" and "Sharia" (or Islamic law). A lot about Nat Morris is about racism. By the way, he got on the subject of blacks and polish people. The show ended some time around 10:40 p.m.. I turned to Channel 2.1. The station was running a Let It Rip! bit, in which Huel Perkins (the main news anchor at the station) and Charlie Langton talk with people, and, in this case, there were four politicians on the program--four "blacks." One of the politicians was a black congresswoman--Brenda Lawrence (a "Democrat"). Brenda Lawrence noted that, with Donald Trump as the U.S. president, "This country is at risk.". To me, that was crap, and it was one of the pieces of crap from Brenda Lawrence. Basically, the program was a collection of "Democrats" (though one guy called himself a "Republican," but he came off a mush). The famous Coleman Young Jr. was on the show. Coleman Young Jr. is a slug and a highly stupid man. Coleman Young Jr. ran off the clichés of his working to get for jobs for people and to get the roads fixed and the improve the infrastructure, and he even pulled out the crap--stolen from a "white man" of years ago--about working to get a "chicken in every pot." Coleman Young Jr. also noted that, in relation to health care in the country, he wants to "bring back the individual mandate". The "individual mandate" was something in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (or "Obamacare"), and it had nothing to do with providing health care or providing better health care. The "individual mandate" was nothing more than a law that forced everyone to buy a health-care policy or get fined or thrown in jail--that is, if a person did not buy a health-care policy approved by the federal government, the federal government could fine the person or put the person in jail. That is shit! Coleman Young Jr. supports shit! Really, Coleman Young Jr. supports enslavism! When a federal government gets to put a person in jail or gets to fine a person in relation to health care, the federal government is a rotten federal government. A good person should ask Coleman Young Jr. (which Huel Perkins and Charlie Langton did not do) why he wants the "individual mandate" to be reinstated? What is the reason? What is the purpose of the "individual mandate" in Coleman Young Jr.'s mind? The "individual mandate" was killed off in the recent enacting of the new federal tax law (though the "individual mandate" does not go away for about a year officially), and it was hinted during the Let It Rip! bit that the new tax law was going to hurt middle-class-type people, and that sounded like crap to me.
Hey, have you noticed that Channel 56.1, WTVS-HD, is airing the fairly new series entitled Amanpour on PBS, which features Christiana Amanpour. On December 31, 2017, I came across an episode, which, for one, had David Milibran (of, for instance, The International Rescue Committee) as the main guest. David Milibran, who came off as a socialist, pushed out a lot of crap. Here is one big example of the crap from David Milibran. In relation to "human rights," David Milibran pushed out the idea that democracies and communists of the world have in the recent past come together on "human rights." That is bullshit of the highest degree! Communists and socialists are not concerned with human rights. History shows that! Communists and socialists are enslavists--they want government to have power over the citizen, period! The final segment of the program dealt with women's rights of sorts. I did not pay much attention to segment after I noticed a portion of the segment--focusing on Nigeria--that showed clip stuff of a priest of sorts who was doing some ritual, which looked like witch-doctor stuff, such as when the priest of sorts took in a mouthful of some liquid and spit it on some statue-like thing depicting a person-like thing. Such primitive crap it was. It is no wonder Nigeria is crap! Of course, Christiana Amanpour is at least a socialist, and that is been public knowledge for years, and she is another one of those foreigners on American television who in the long run put down the United States of America (her show is based in London, England).
Announcement: I have several new documents on the Internet--at the website for The Hologlobe Press. One document is entitled "Indigenous Peoples Day"--It is Not Deserved and Should Not Exist. It can be reached by using this Indigenous link. Another document is entitled Black-Racist U.S. Representative Frederica Wilson (a Democrat related to Florida) Shits on a Killed U.S. Soldier--Army Sergeant La David Johnson (a Black Man), which can be reached through this Frederica Wilson. In relation to Frederica Wilson, you should see the video on YouTube entitled "John Kelly's EMOTIONAL White House Press Briefing 10/22/2017", which was posted on October 19, 2017, and it runs 21 minutes. Yet another document is entitled The United States of America is Not "Healthy" Anymore and Never Will Be Again--Stupid Americans by the Millions and Rotten Politicians Like Having the Federal Government in Charge of Health Care, When It Should Never Be, which can be reached through this Not Healthy link. Also I put a document that is under construction (at the time this document was published on the Internet) at the website for The Hologlobe Press so that I could show the documents listed in the bibliography (and it has a tie-in with this document), and that document is informally called A Collage of Corrupt, which can be reached through this Collage link.
I have decided to put a Looking at the Movies section here (usually I put such a section farther into a T.H.A.T. edition). Looking at the Movies is a section of T.H.A.T. that is supposed to give you suggestions about old movies to see, and the movies are movies that were shown on Detroit-area television in the late 1940s or early 1950s as a rule (I use the middle 1950s for CKLW-TV, Channel 9). On March 12, 1950, WJBK-TV, Channel 2, offered a 1937 movie to viewers, and it was offered starting at 10:15 p.m. (around this time in the 1950s, the station was airing movies at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday as a rule). The movie, which was released by Ambassador Pictures, was a comedy, and the movie was called Swing It Professor. Two of the performers were Pinky Tomlin and Paula Stone. Another performer in the 1937 movie was Milburn Stone, who, in roughly twenty years, would become a regular performer on what would became a super-famous television series--Gunsmoke (which would have James Arness playing Marshal Matt Dillon). Okay, it is winter now, so it gets dark early, and that means it should be easy to pretend it is 10:15 p.m. on March 12, 1950 (much of the days around this time have darkness). Pick a dark part of the day, and go to YouTube and fire up Swing It Professor. The movie is lighthearted and harmless. The movie is no great thing, so take it for what it is. Hey, wait! Keep your eyes open while you watch the movie. At one point, the Professor is traveling the country, and, in essence, when in Detroit, he discovers a bed (for the night) can be gotten for 15 cents.
Hey, guys and gals! Try this! In the past, I have talked about Svengoolie, which is aired by MeTV (currently on Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., Detroit time). I regularly watch Svengoolie, when I am in the Detroit area. The program has Svengoolie (played by Rich Koz) hosting the showing of horror movies from the past, such as movies of the 1930s and 1940s. It is fun stuff! Retro TV also airs programs with movie hosts, and one is Harvey's Festival of Fear, and yet another is Off Beat Cinema. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, Retro TV has a program called Horror Hotel, which has a young gal as the host, and the host is called Lamia (played by Kristina Michelle). The program has been in production since 2013, and some other regulars on the program are Lil' Zombie (played by Philip Saad) and Zippy (played by Jason McCallister). I have to say that Kristina Michelle comes off a little flat [Note: I am not focusing on Kristina Michelle's breasts]. Kristina Michelle's Lamia is a little lacking in persona. Oh, on Sunday, December 24, 2017, I saw a repeat edition of Off Beat Cinema (hosted by Constance Caldwell as Zelda and Anthony Billoni as Bird), and the movie that was presented was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964), and I finally noticed Pia Zadora played a girl in the movie--Pia Zadora sort of had a peak in show business in the 1980s, such as as a singer of sorts. One thing Pia Zadora (when grown up) had was spunk--little girl charm--and she was small gal. Kristina Michelle needs a little more spunk.
Announcement for the novice again (reworked in May 2017): To get useful television-delivered news or Internet-delivered news, WorldNetDaily.com, "The Drudge Report," and CNS News (which is on the Internet and which was launched on June 16, 1998), since the entities do not blindly support Barack Obama-type people (communists and Shariaists), as do CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV (Note: To learn about bad journalism, you might tune in to CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV from time to time to see how they differ from the better places mentioned). I note that Fox News Channel is evolving into a rotten channel, becoming like those that I have put down in this paragraph. If you are unclear of my intentions, I say in different words that you should boycott CNN, MSNBC, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, and ABC-TV and even now much of what is on the Fox News Channel and hope they lose more ratings and advertising revenues, since they are expendable, and it is time for you to find the guts to be mean and heartless and cancel them--since they are hurting you. [Note: Everyone in the Democratic Party in the country is rotten, and the Republican Party establishment has shown itself to be socialistic and communistic within the last few years, and only a few of the rotten people are U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, U.S. Senator John McCain, Jeb Bush, and Chris Christie.]
During the holiday season around the end of the years, Channel 2.1, WJBK-HD, airs some annual local specials, such as Tribute to Our Troops and Happy Holidays Detroit!, the latter of which has on-air personalities yet at the station talking about Christmas or holiday memories of the past. This year, one of the specials was Fox2--20 Years Working for You, which I happened to see on Monday, December 25, 2017, starting at 11:00 a.m., and it ran for one hour. The idea of the program was to have--mostly--nine members of the on-air staff who had been around for years talk about their being at the station, and the persons were Rich Luterman, Deena Centafonti, Woody Woodriffe, Amy Lange, Lee Thomas, Jennifer Hammond, Monica Gayle, Dan Miller, and Rob Wolchek [Note: Others of the station today or of the past were seen]. Like Happy Holidays Detroit!, Fox2--20 Years Working for You was selling piece, made to get viewers to feel good about the people of the station, though the people of the station actually may be crappy people in truth, such as by siding with socialists and communists. The program sort of celebrated the last twenty years of the station news/entertainment department. I know television news today is almost always useless news, especially when compared with what was being done at Channel 2 in the 1950s and 1960s--today, the station offers most girly pieces and fluff pieces and information that is useless, such as another car crash or murder. Near the end of the program (Fox2--20 Years Working for You), the main news anchor of the station--Huel Perkins--had his voice heard by viewers, and Huel Perkins pushed out this idea--"They [the people at Channel 2, especially those focused on in the special] certainly report the news and information that you need to hear, but they are such individuals, such characters. They're the kinds of people you'd love to invite into your homes....". Such crap that set of words from Huel Perkins is. I have already noted that much in a television newscast is fluff and emotion-touching stuff, especially for women--it has no real benefit to an individual. I say--In comparison with what was done years ago, it is today that a station has so many people doing so little that is useful. By the way, some of the other persons seen on the special were Jackie Paige (of WWJ-AM), Robin Schwartz, Sherry Margolis, and Mitch Albom, whom I report is a rotten man, based on my knowledge of the man.
Victor Swanson special note (commentary): The people at commercial television stations in Detroit do very little compared with the people at the commercial television stations in the 1940s and 1950s did. Years ago, commercial televisions stations broadcast--through local telecasts--beauty pageants, boxing shows, wrestling shows, Harmsworth Trophy Races, Gold Cup Races, Tugboat races, Silver Cub Races, Detroit symphony concerts, chamber-music programs, recitals, classical dance programs, polka shows, square-dance shows, religious shows, gardening shows, madrigal shows, Tiger baseball games, Detroit Red Wings hockey games, Soap Box Derby races, Detroit Lions football games, midget car races, horse races, bowling shows, cooking shows, shows with movie hosts, talent shows, cooking shows, political talk shows, sports highlights shows, newsreel shows, music shows (such as The Viola Layne Show).... During the week before Christmas Day 2017, I caught an episode of The Nine on WJBK-TV--particuarly the first 15 minutes or so--and Lee Thomas and the other hosts on the air that day were so impressed by how many topics (several) that they had done for the opening of the show, and I just rolled my eyes, knowing it was all fluff. The people of the 1940s and 1950s may not have been pretty as a rule, as the people on television are today as a rule, but they did stuff.
Viola Layne had a music show airing on Channel 7, WXYZ-TV, in 1956 for a short while; she had already been involved in performing in nights clubs as a singer/impressionist in mostly the Midwest since at least 1942 (she died in 1963 at age 41 years)--she had done a lot before getting on television. During the holidays of December 2017, I saw Kellie Rowe for the first time on Channel 2, during broadcasts of The Nine. Kellie Rowe comes off as a little girl, a girl who has never done anything. [Note: Based on the look of Kellie Rowe's arms, it looks as if she could not lift a five-pound bag of sugar.] Kellie Rowe comes off as a cliché, one of those girls from a rich family of Bloomfield Hills, who never had to do anything. Kellie Rowe is just one of the many shallow girls on television in the so-called news business.
It is getting to the point that the interaction between men and women aimed at mating is getting corrupted so much that is getting hard for men and women to get together, aimed at continuing on the species. The problem has been, for instance, the "Feminist Movement," which has been a movement pushed along by "men haters" who are women, women who are communists, women who dislike that they were born women (designed to give birth), et cetera, and the movement really was on in earnest in the late 1960s, with the "Women's Lib" crap. Since the 1960s, in general, women have become more male in nature and persona, which does not suit them, while many men have become more female in nature and persona. Today, the idea of having a "beauty contest" for women is all but dead. Between about 1900 and 1967, for instance, it was commonplace to hear about "beauty contests" featuring women being held, and the term "beauty contest" was used regularly. There was no stigma attached to "beauty contests." I miss those days--when women acted like women, such as by wearing dresses and not acting like men, such as in tone of speech. Today, there is still "Miss Universe" and "Miss America" contests, in which young women work to be crowned a "queen" of some type, but I do not hear much, for instance, about the preliminary contests in the states, such as the state contests designed to get contestants for the national finals. I actually had to look back (in Internet reports) to see when some of the recent contests related to "Miss Michigan" were held and who the winners were (newspapers seem to avoid making a big deal of the contests as newspapers did more than 50 years ago had). For 2018, the winner was Kaila Frazier (a black gal), and for 2017, the winner was Heather Kendrick (a white gal), and for 2016, the winner was Arianna Quan (an Asian-type gal), who looked good in a yellow bikini and is my favorite of the three that I list. Miss Arianna Quan looked squeezable in the yellow bikini. Hold it! I bet I pissed someone off with the statement about "squeezable." Hurray for me! Given I am not married and not gay, I will sometimes look at a woman for her sexual persona. It does seem to me Miss Arianna Quan wore the yellow bikini to show off her sexual persona. Over the years, I have collected information about when what I will call "beauty contests" were held and shown on Detroit-area television stations. Let me look at only "Miss Michigan" (I use the informal title). In June 1962, WJBK-TV, Channel 2, broadcast a portion of the contest (airing the finals), and in June 1963, WJBK-TV aired a portion of the contest (airing the finals), and in July 1964, WJBK-TV aired the contest, and in July 1965, WWJ-TV, Channel 4, aired the contest, and July 1966, WWJ-TV aired the contest, and in June 1967, WXYZ-TV, Channel 7, aired the contest. There was no broadcast of "Miss Michigan" in Detroit in 1968, 1969, 1970, and 1971, and I stop there. It does look as if, for one, some people thought it would be a bad idea to broadcast a "beauty contest" on Detroit television in the late 1960s and 1970s, maybe because of the influence of "Women's Liberation." I wonder a bit why women enter what I call "beauty contests" today. Do any enter hoping to show how womanly they are--how lush as females they are? It seems very likely many try to win scholarships to collages or universities and money and prizes. Do any try to show themselves off to find a good man to marry (not necessarily because the man is highly rich)? I bet that idea has faded away. Of course, based on analysis, it seem to me a woman's finding a good man--an honorable anti-socialist and anti-communist and a man who would act as protector to a woman in the form of a true man (and not a panzy-ass)--would be hard to find, because many, many young American males have become feminized. Yes, years ago, Detroit-area television stations broadcast "beauty contests." I bet you have never heard of the "Miss Michigan Aviation" contests, which were broadcast in the 1950s. I have a photograph of Arianna Quan in her yellow bikini. Maybe I should run to Staples and get it blown up to life-size. Oh, Nancy Ann Fleming (from Michigan) was a Miss Michigan, and she went on to become Miss America for 1961, and she appeared in some of the "Miss Michigan" broadcasts in the 1960s, and in photographs that I found of her recently, I saw her and see her as a pleasant woman.
Remember: The Prisoner with Patrick McGoohan was a television show that was produced across the pond and shown on CBS-TV in the late 1960s, and I urge you to find The Prisoner on DVD, maybe from a library, and watch it, and you should show it--all the episodes--to teenagers, or buy it as a present for teenagers.Stay well!

P.S.: You are urged to see my document entitled One of "The Rules of Man"--A Rule About Health Care that No Politician May Supersede with Law, which can be reached through this Rule1 link. I have deduced that all the Democrats and most Republicans support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and have no intention of killing it, though it should be killed for violating, for one, "The Rules of Man." For example, Republicans Jeb Bush and Christ Christie support the rotten law, and that is one reason that I define them as stupid men and not men who are good enough--in this day and age--to be the U.S. President. I note that the "mandate"--which forces everyone to buy government-approved health-care insurance--violates one of "The Rules of Man," and it is a rule that is attacked in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010. Anyone who supports the "mandate" is not a good enough person or a smart enough person to be the U.S. president--the mandate is "enslavism," and the "mandate" allows government people--who are often and usually bad people, as history shows--decide what health care a person can get, and that is bad.
