I have heard it said that up to sixty percent of the adults in Detroit are functionally illiterate, and that figure that I state may be high, but it is known that some 40 percent of young children cannot read at their grade level, and the standards are probably not as good as they were in the 1950s and 1960s when I was growing up in the Detroit area. I ended up with the "whole-word" reading method in school when I was growing up, and that forced me to read about "Dick" and "Jane," and good and smart people have said the "whole-word" method was and is crap (and was even purposely pushed on children by socialists decades ago to hurt children). Later on, I had to go to the writing clinic at Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan)--extra time spent at school--to learn to write better, and that was in about 1972, and I passed the writing proficiency test at the clinic after having done work through the clinic for a while, and, then, my skill at writing was nothing like what it would end up to be today. Since so many children cannot read and write properly today, the blame can be put on the families of the children or the parents of the children and especially on teachers (so-called teachers in many cases). On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, I got exposed to a story on the front page of the Cheboygan Daily Tribune (of Cheboygan, Michigan), and the article was "Whitmer signs change to reading law" [Hendrickson, Clara. "Whitmer signs change to reading law." Cheboygan Daily Tribune, 28 March 2023, pp. 1A and 3A.], and it was the top story of the newspaper edition. Look at the opening idiocy of the article--"Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill Friday that strikes from law a requirement to hold back third graders who fail a reading proficiency test. 'Today, we are taking action to put power back into parents' hands so they can work with their child's teachers and make decisions that are best for their family,' Whitmer said in a statement. 'Getting this done will offer parents more flexibiliy and ensure educators can focus on doing what they do best -- helping students reach their full potential.' Senate Bill 12 passed with the support of every Democratic lawmaker along with two Republican lawmakers in the state Senate -- state Sens. Ruth Johnson, R-Holly, and Joe Bellino, R-Monroe -- and GOP state Rep. Timmy Beson, R-Bay City in the state house. State Sen. Dayne Polehanki, D-Livonia, the bill sponsor and a former teacher, called Michigan's reading law "state-mandated mass flunking of third grade students based on one reading test score.'...." Has there been "mass flunking" in Michigan? If there has been mass flunking, why has it existed, given school systems have existed in the state for a couple centuries? How does power get back into parents' hands with the killing of the law? Something seems rotten about the killing of the law if it was, in essence, all the Democrats who supported killing the law and it was all the Republicans who supported not killing the law! Oh, the killing of the law comes down to the racist theme based on that in Democrats' flap doodle! The next section of the article was--"She [Dayne Polehanki] said in a floor speech ahead of the vote in the state Senate that the retention requirement in the law was implemented unequally with students of color and those in lower-performing districts more likely to be held back a year. She stressed that her bill won't touch other elements of the reading law that have helped students, such as reading coaching and other interventions to help struggling students.". Years ago, I heard from a friend in the teaching profession that blacks in Detroit did not want to learn "white" stuff, such as proper English, and how teachers at Wayne State University could not flunk black students (or the teachers would hear about it from higher-ups), so the schools in Detroit became more filled with black teachers (probably many who had been passed through colleges and universities in relation to "affirmative action" and were poorly qualilfied), and so the schools got worse in Detroit, and more and more children ended with crap language skills. Black areas, like Detroit, have had crappy teachers and have done crap to children based on results shown! During the pandemic related to COVID-19, Governor Getchen Whitmer shut down the schools in Michigan, which was unlike what happened in Florida and in Sweden [and Gretchen Whitmer killed people in nursing homes by sending COVID-19 people in to nursing homes, and Gretchen Whitmer publicly reported in 2020 that the medical community is racist against blacks]. Later in the article, it was written--"...The report also found that school districts that mostly instructed students remotely during the 2020-21 school year recorded the highest share of students flagged to be held back another year....". Gretchen Whitmer was instrumental in causing the problem. The type of law that should have been passed is a very temporary hiatus on the process of holding back students. Now, the law is gone, and it will probably be gone for a long time, and the state-government people have set in place another lowering of the educational standards in the state, and teachers are held less accountable once again. Incidentally, if the law had been that a person--a third-grade child--gets only one shot at the test, then the temporary hiatus thing should have included a provision to have a student get hours of extra teaching in English and then take the test again--a few months later--and then the students who fail a second time should be put in a long-summer school session (and it might be good for a parent to show up for at least one class a week, given there should be at least three classes a week, so the parent can see what is being done, and if the child flunks agan, then hold back the child, and that will kill that racist crap). The article pushed out the idea that Gretchen Whitmer is pushing out more money for education, but children of color are not doing poorly because there is a lack of money being pushed at them--it is a culture problem. More than one-hundred years ago, no big money was pushed at children, and what children got were a few books and rules about grammar, and they got work aimed at spelling words, and the teaching involved getting children involved in repetition and memorization and memory use, and children learned to read. To Gretchen Whitmer, money is the reason some children do not read well. That is bullshit!
Addendum One:
A person must understand the nature of Gretchen Whitmer. There is that rule that notes you are judged by the company that you keep, and if you associate with bad people, you must be bad, and Gretchen Whitmer is associated with the Democratic Party, which is a political party made up of communists and socialists and progressives and liberals, who can be likened by Vladimir Putin and Adolph Hitler and other like killers and evil persons. On that day that I posted this document on the Internet, I posted a document called The Democrats Attack Hard the United States of America and The United States Consitution, and They Push More Enslavism on the County by Indicting Donald J Trump on March 30, 2023 (which can be reached through this Indictment link), and that document shows enough of the rottenness of the Democrats to prove what rottenness is in the mind of Gretchen Whitmer [Note: The document has links to documents that show up, for instance, the rottenness of the impeachment events of Donald J. Trump.]. And instead of really working to find out why children are not learning to read well at third grade and then instituting real plans to set things right, Gretchen Whitmer was more concerned about letting poorly taught children go on to other things and grades, which they are not ready for, and the odds are good the children--especially black children--will continually be passed through the educational system, though they have bad skills, and that is a sign that Gretchen Whitmer was more concerned with protecting teachers who are bad and are probably passing along rotten ways of living to children, such as about being girls when they are boys, than with making children better. And I am not done, and I back up in a few days in time. On Friday, March 24, 2023, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill that killed a standing law that allowed workers to bow out of paying union dues or fees--it is the topic of "right-to-work"--and Gretchen Whitmer pushed forth this lie and idiocy--"...Today, we are coming together to restore workers' rights, protect Michiganders on the job, and grow Michigan's middle class...." [Hendrickson, Clara. "Gov: We're restoring the rights of workers." Detroit Free Press, 25 March 2023, p. 1A and 5A.]. That is bullshit from a mind full of shit! Workers now do not have the ability to bow out of something that they might deem to be tied to a crappy entity (a bad union, which can exist, especially in this day and age), so workers lost rights in relation to running their lives, and Gretchen Whitmer restored more enslavism--communism and socialism and progressivism--on the people of Michigan.Addendum Two:
If parents of black children do not care about whether or not their children read well, so it goes, and that shows the culture problem, and it has nothing to do with racism.
